The Fell at Burnsall Celebrates its Silver Anniversary

The Fell at Burnsall will celebrate its silver anniversary this June – 25 years of being part of The Devonshire Group’s collection of leading UK hospitality businesses.

New Summer Barbecue Party and All-day Bistro Dining at The Fell Burnsall

As part of its Silver Anniversary celebrations, The Fell in Burnsall is hosting its very own Summer Barbecue Party in the gardens for the whole family to get involved in. There’s also a new all-day bistro dining menu launching for both guests and visitors to enjoy. Read on to find out more.

Purchased from its previous Swiss owners at the turn of the last century, the sixteen-bedroom boutique hotel created quite a stir when it was renovated, with bold, colourful interiors and a quirky sense of style.

The hotel’s style signature, completely unique at that time, was one of the forerunners of the designer boutique hotel trend, with the Duchess of Devonshire designing it herself.

Since then, The Fell in Burnsall has been a popular bolthole for stylish visitors and dreamy brides, who have delighted in its picturesque location in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, which is akin to the backdrop of a Bronte novel.

It was this same awe-inspiring location that led to Burnsall being featured as central to the original Calendar Girls movie in 2003. Based upon the inspirational, real-life story of fundraising from sales of a ‘naked’ charity calendar, bravely modelled and produced with good humour by the region’s local W.I. members.

The film is set in an archetypal Yorkshire village, and its presence in this popular movie of the time put the sleepy village on the global map!

No stranger to fame, in the seventeenth century, one of the village’s notable and wealthy residents, Sir William Craven, rose in status to become the Lord Mayor of London. Sir William’s influence can still be seen in several historic homes in the village still standing today, as well as its boys’ grammar school.

A couple of hundred years later, The Fell in Burnsall was hosting many more of the elite businessmen of its era, as the Edwardian villa was home to a Gentleman’s Club, hosting the wealthy mill owners and landowners of the area, who again were drawn to the magnificent scenery no doubt, as they relaxed and exchanged lively bonhomie no doubt….

On Saturday, June 29th the silver anniversary celebrations of the hotel’s most recent chapter will be in full swing. A summer barbeque party is planned, with lawn games and live music. Party-goers will include residents of course, along with neighbours, friends and loyal regular guests of The Fell in Burnsall.

Free entry, 12 pm – 5 pm, including complimentary hot food from pop-up stalls, and drinks available to purchase, with children and canine companions all welcome too.

The Fell - bistro all-day dining

Another opportunity to visit this summer is to sample The Fell at Burnsall’s new ‘all-day dining’ bistro, where both residents and non-residents can enjoy a selection of tasty seasonal dishes, including locally sourced grills and fresh fish from the Yorkshire coastline.

The bistro’s open aspect and picture windows enable visitors to enjoy panoramic views over the River Wharfe from the hotel’s elevated vantage point. A strong contender as one of Skipton’s best dining destinations.

The Fell - coffee and cake

The cosy bar enjoys a welcoming atmosphere at any time of day and another new offering this season is the opportunity to call in for coffee, teas and cakes during the afternoon.

With so many invitations we hope to welcome more guests to The Fell in Burnsall this summer, including new ones to help us celebrate such a special landmark year.
