Vice and Virtue: What’s Next for Leeds Award Winning Fine Dining Restaurant?
Who would have guessed that within one year, a former strip-club would redefine the Leeds restaurant scene, pick up a coveted Oliver Award for Best Fine-Dining and become the city’s only new entry into the 2018 edition of the Good Food Guide? Well, it seems that all the love, blood, sweat and tears has paid off for Vice & Virtue, because that’s exactly what they’ve done…
So, what’s next?
Never one to stand still, Director Luke Downing is relaunching the brand with several exciting new changes which will only serve to broaden its appeal. Firstly, the Virtue restaurant upstairs has been given an eye-catching facelift and a larger kitchen, and will also be debuting a brand new seven or 10 dish tasting menu.
Luke has been working closely with two top chefs to ensure these dishes make the most of their locally sourced produce, while also packing plenty of creative flair that regulars have come to expect. The menu will continue to change along with the four seasons, and includes forward-thinking gluten free and vegetarian options that are anything but an afterthought.
To complement the new menu, Luke also had the enviable task of visiting a selection of independent vineyards, and will be doubling the original wine list with some of the best wines you’ll find in Yorkshire.
Vice and Virture’s Casual Affair
Meanwhile, the Vice bar downstairs will now focus on food, albeit a much more casual affair than the Virtue restaurant. Here, you will find a selection of mouth-watering small plates, tapas style dishes and bar snacks. Open between Wednesday and Sunday, Vice will be a first come first served kind of joint, and not open for bookings – just walk in, and if the restaurant is full, they’ll drop you a text when a table comes available.
So, whether you want to drop in after work for a well-deserved Martini, or catch up with a friend over some fresh oysters and a Black Truffle Vermouth, Vice will be your kind of place. Speaking of drinks, the bar tenders have been hard at work, mixing up the best darn cocktail creations in Leeds, to pique the interest of traditionalists and the more adventurous cocktail connoisseurs alike.
In fact, thirsty patrons will be able to prop themselves up at the bar and peruse a cocktail encyclopaedia boasting close to 200 concoctions, from the weirdly wonderful, to classic creations to the downright polarizing. In short, it will be a much more fun read than the Encyclopaedia Britannica, filled with all the things they don’t teach you at school.
Vice and Virtue Leeds Brunch
October also sees the launch of the Vice bottomless brunch, which promises to be a cut above the norm and will have you living for the weekend. Making its debut on 21st October, the Vice brunch will take place each Saturday and Sunday from 12pm, where the finest food and drinks can be indulged in for a special price over a two-hour period.
And, if you love Deliveroo, but feel the choices on offer lack a certain je ne sais quoi, then listen up. You will soon be able to enjoy the Vice bar food experience in the comfort of your own home, as the team have developed a modified version of the menu, able to survive the bumpy journey from the kitchen to your door. Vice will also be the first place in the UK to deliver Louis XIII Dom Perignon by the glass via Deliveroo, providing you with a premium takeaway service like no other.
