A room inspired by Bettys’ founder Fredrick Belmont’s journey on the maiden voyage of the RMS Queen Mary in 1936. The ship’s elegant, interiors made such an impression that, when opened the newest branch of his beloved Bettys, he got the same skilled craftsmen to recreate it. Guests can still enjoy the finest Afternoon Tea there today. We savoured Bettys’ opulent afternoon tea — from delicious, savoury sandwiches and indulgent desserts like the Autumn Berry Éclair and Lemon Meringue Tartlet 🫖🍰 Afternoon tea doesn’t get more magical! They’re launching a limited edition Black Box chocolate ghost filled with mouthwatering Champagne and milk chocolate ganache, finished with a pink lustre.
It’s inspired by Bettys’ founding in Harrogate in 1919 to the opening of its York café in 1937, championing post-war optimism and elegance.

Both Bettys and York Ghost Merchants are situated in York city centre and proudly bring together both rich history and excellent craftsmanship. That makes this product launch an obvious collaboration for one of York Ghost merchants most iconic products.
The ghosts will be handcrafted in Bettys award award-winning bakery using the world’s finest Swiss milk chocolate, which will beautifully replicate York Ghost Merchant’s signature Little Ghosts.
While Bettys are offering this stunning shimmering ghost, cards will be randomly included in the black envelopes accompanying each chocolate ghost.
York Ghost Merchants will have 60 exclusive Starlight Club White Star Ghosts. These will be available to those who are holders of a special pink and gold ticket card.
Set your alarms for 9 am on Sunday 26 October to get your hands on this limited edition collaboration, before they disappear!
To enjoy the history and glamour that Bettys and this collaboration are so proud of, why not enjoy afternoon tea in their stunning Belmont room, which dates back to 1937. Book your table here.
