What to Expect at Kommune Sheffield

Kommune in Sheffield is an innovative concept that brings together some of the most acclaimed, independent kitchens, brewers and retailers in a unique, urban space. This meeting place is home to a diverse choice of great tasting food, an artisanal bakery and specialty coffee, independent retail and an iconic bar. One of the best places to dine out in Sheffield.

The people behind Peddler, Tamper and Depot Bakery joined forces with Kollider Projects to create the 16,000 square foot Castlegate food hall on the upper ground floor of the former Co-op department store, inside Castle House. The Scandi inspired food hall is in the same vein as similar venues in other cities, such as Manchester’s Mackie Mayor, and opens its doors early every morning to the aromas of Tamper’s coffee and Depot Bakery’s freshly baked croissants.

Chaat Cart – Delicious South Indian street food made from scratch using seasonal British produce.

Proove Pizza make their wood-fired pizzas with only the best Italian 00-grade Caputo flour, slow-proved for 20 hours. Their dough is hand-stretched, topped with the finest ingredients, and cooked to perfection. Served to you fresh, hot, and ready to be devoured.

Silversmiths Bottomless Brunch Sheffield

Yoki add their healthy, colourful and exciting Korean soul food to the mix.

Fat Hippo make indulgent burgers that leave your fingers messy and your belly full. Born from a love of great burgers in a small restaurant in Newcastle, Fat Hippo has grown into a family of restaurants and a talented team with a borderline unhealthy obsession with burgers. With gourmet toppings and quirky combinations, their burgers are anything but basic.

Freshness and creativity are Torito Taco’s favourite ingredients. Latin American inspired, Kommune Sheffield made. Tacos, burritos, nachos y mas.

MorMor cooks up a contemporary mix of Middle Eastern, North African and Mediterranean street food with an abundance of veggie and vegan options as well as meaty choices.

Hanoi 75 is inspired by the flavours of Vietnam’s Capital, Hanoi and the colourful array of street food found in the South East. Be ready to explore Vietnamese cuisine,  with an authentic menu ranging from summer rolls to yellow curries and bao buns.

Drinks at Kommune

ARIA Bar is all about showcasing fine wines, specialist dishes created by their talented chefs, and an incredible cocktail menu that celebrates the classics and explores new exciting flavours.

The Department of Drinks bar wraps around the iconic staircase at the heart of the building. The bar line up seeks to impress with a permanent selection of Freedom brewery beers, free from animal products and brewed with a conscience as well as some continually changing guest taps. The wine list is varied hitting some of those all-time favourites. Along with some more contemporary wines and fizz. The cocktail list is exciting. For those of you preferring the 0% route, we assure you, you won’t be ordering a lemonade when you see the list of house-made cordials and sodas.

Kommune’s Retailers

The retailers at Kommune are well-loved Sheffield shops who have decided to relocate. Visit the Hop Hideout for their in-depth knowledge to provide craft beer, cider, specialist natural, biodynamic and organic wines and spirits in ‘a one-stop shop for great quality drinks to take home’. La Biblioteka hosts a specialist magazine, book and printing shop as well as facilitating other pop-ups by local, independent artists and craftspeople in the space.
