Thors Tipi Launches New Summer Event in Leeds

City Square is set to host a new summertime events schedule starting next month, including the return of a summery edition of Thors Tipi. 

Having recently undergone one of the biggest transport transformations in the city, the square is set to host a monthly artisan market, a new edition of Thors Tipi bar, a programme filled with family-fun activities and even a big screen that will be broadcasting some of the greatest sporting events of the season.

Every week, local bands and artists will play live music in the events space, which will also have huge outdoor games, easels, ice cream, and soft drinks for kids, in addition to a range of cocktails and street cuisine from Thor’s Tipi.

Huge athletic events like Wimbledon, the Olympics, and the Tour de France will be shown on the new big screen, which is partially funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Amanda Monaghan, director at Thor’s Tipi said “We’re so excited to have our first ever Thor’s Summer residency in Leeds. We’ll be hosting brilliant summer parties, showcasing the best of sport on the big screen and entertaining families – all within our tipi wonderland on City Square. It’s going to be a glorious Summer in Leeds!”

As well as Thors Tipi, the monthly artisan market will take the form of an artisanal village from July. Hosted by Little Bird Made who recently opened their first market stall in Kirkgate Market, it’s set to be another summery edition to City Square’s events area.

Councillor Helen Hayden, Leeds City Council’s executive member for infrastructure and sustainable development said: “This summer, we will see all that work come to fruition, when the square welcomes a programme of events for all ages and we take another huge step toward a cleaner, greener and more sustainable city centre.”

Thors Tipi will be serving on the Square from 14th June until 8th September, making for a whole Summer full of celebrations.
