The Old Liquor Store York Scallops and Oyster Dishes - romantic restaurants in Yorkshire

On the infamous Bishy Road on the outskirts of York stands The Old Liquor Store, a favourite neighbourhood bistro. Housed within the Grade II listed former Terry’s chocolate factory, the team serve up much-loved à la carte menu that changes regularly, all day brunch and Sunday lunch.

Matt Leivers, former Head Chef at The Star Inn at Harome, has taken over the kitchen and is gracing diners with a selection of seasonal dishes, prepared and served in their open kitchen.

Homemade is where their heart is, from start to finish – whether it be a morning coffee with Madeleine biscuits or something from their à la carte dinner menu, this neighbourhood bistro will have you coming back time and time again.

On Sunday’s, you can catch Old Liquor Store’s all day menu from 9 – 10.45 a.m, followed by their famous Sunday lunch menu from 12 pm – 4 pm.

Just 20 minutes from York city centre, The Old Liquor Store is perfect for those wanting to visit for a quick morning pit stop, tuck into a full bodied sandwich at lunchtime or pop in for after-work drinks and dinner.
