Pignut in Helmsley have reimagined fine dining with a commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Previous Head Chef at the Rattle Owl in York, Tom Heywood, opened Pignut, in Helmsley in June 2023 with his partner and sommelier Laurissa Cook.

Surrounded by the beautiful North York Moors, Pignut brings something different to Helmsley’s thriving dining scene. With an intimate and inclusive setting, you can watch Tom and his team curating dishes in their open kitchen.

Their tasting menu and smaller setting allow for a more in-depth conversation between the chef and guests. The menu changes regularly throughout the seasons and depending on what produce is available to them.

The eight-course tasting menu is served Wednesday – Saturday for dinner, and a four-course lunch offered on Friday and Saturday. On the menu, you can expect to find ‘Whitby Crab and Elderflower’, ‘Wild Brill Stuffed with Mussels’, ‘Barncliffe Brie’, ‘Dark Woods Coffee Tiramisu’ and more.

Partner, Laurissa Cook is the expert on drinks, helping you perfectly match your wine to the dish. Previously the Restaurant Manager and Sommelier at the Rattle Owl, her knowledge and passion for organic wines are certainly unmatched.
