Pignut & The Hare in Helmsley have reimagined fine dining with a commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Previous Head Chef at the Rattle Owl in York, Tom Heywood, opened Pignut & The Hare, in Helmsley in June 2023 with his partner and sommelier, Laurissa Cook.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the North York Moors, Pignut has recently expanded and relocated to the Hare Inn, introducing a new culinary experience to Helmsley’s vibrant dining scene and characterful 16th-century bedrooms for the perfect weekend retreat.

With an intimate and beautifully designed setting, watch Tom and his team curate dishes in their open kitchen.

Their tasting menu changes regularly throughout the seasons, depending on the availability of produce. It features eight-courses and is served Wednesday – Saturday for dinner. You can expect to find Lindisfarne Oysters, Castle Howard salt-aged beef ribs, Cured Chalk Stream Trout, Newfields Beetroots and more.

Partner, Laurissa Cook is the expert on drinks, helping you perfectly match your wine to the dish. Previously, the Restaurant Manager and Sommelier at the Rattle Owl, her knowledge and passion for organic wines are certainly unmatched.
