The 20,000 acre Swinton Estate in North Yorkshire, is situated on the doorstep of the Yorkshire Dales, and is one of the largest privately owned estates in England.

Owned by the Earl and Countess of Swinton, the Estate is home to the opulent 42-bedroom Swinton Park Hotel, Swinton Country Club, Swinton Cookery School, holiday cottages and glamping at Swinton Bivouac.

The Swinton Estate offers a myriad of activities, from fine dining, clay shooting at E.J. Churchill’s Shooting Ground, fly-fishing with the Northern Fishing School, cycling, and birds of prey experiences, to wild swimming and holistic therapies.

Estate to Plate

Produce used throughout all kitchens on the Swinton Estate is taken from farms across the estate where possible, or from the four-acre Walled Garden at Swinton Park. Produce we are unable to source from the estate is sourced as locally as possible to reduce food miles and create sustainable businesses in our local area.

Dining on the Swinton Estate

From the grandeur and opulence of a seasonal A La Carte menu in Samuel’s Restaurant; a relaxed lunch or supper in the contemporary Terrace Restaurant and Bar; a quintessential Afternoon Tea in the Drawing Room; a Chef’s Table in the Cookery School; through to a hearty lunch or piece of cake at Swinton Bivouac Café.

Samuel’s Restaurant at Swinton Park

Fine dining at its best. The spectacular elegance of the decor of Samuel’s restaurant is complemented by our seamless levels of service, exquisite wine selection and a seasonal menu that combines the finest locally sourced ingredients.

The Terrace Restaurant and Bar

Situated near Swinton Country Club, The Terrace Restaurant and Bar is at the heart of ‘laid back’ eating and drinking on the Swinton Estate.

Fabulously airy, indoor restaurant and bar with beautiful alfresco ‘terraced’ gardens, perfect for spring and summer lunches, suppers and drinks with friends; with blankets, heaters and sheepskins galore for chillier days.

The Terrace Restaurant and Bar offers seasonal lunch, dinner and ‘light bites’ menus.

Chef’s Table at Swinton Cookery School

An unforgettable culinary experience. Through the intimate setting of the Cookery School, you’ll taste and discover the magic that goes into a gourmet menu.

You’ll enjoy a delicious five-course menu, cooked in front of you by Michelin-experienced chef Josh Barnes. Offering a wealth of experience gathered around the world, bringing the experience to life with a vast array of skills and anecdotes to satisfy anyone with a love of food and cooking.

Bivouac Café

The quirky Bivouac Café is our ‘on-site’ watering hole where delicious, hearty breakfasts, lunches and suppers await at Swinton Bivouac! Coffee, teas, and oodles of cakes are ready to sustain after fabulous days outdoors. The Bivouac Café boasts fabulous views over the Yorkshire Dales, with plenty of space to eat outside and a short walk to the impressive Druid’s Temple folly.

Afternoon Tea at Swinton Park

A quintessential tradition best enjoyed in the spectacular setting of Swinton Park on the Swinton Estate.

Enjoy beautiful, sweet delicacies from our pastry kitchen, locally sourced meats, local preserves, and perhaps a glass of English sparkling wine or champagne, for an extra special occasion.

Accommodation on the Swinton Estate

If you’re looking to stay on the Swinton Estate, you have plenty of options to choose from. The Swinton Park Hotel is a Grade II-listed castle featuring a range of beautifully furnished bedrooms and suites for its guests.

Swinton Bivouac provides guests with the chance to experience off-grid glamping in a completely natural environment. Choose from tree lodges, meadow and cabin yurts or The Loft for a more open and airy space.

If you’re planning on visiting as a group, why not stay in one of Swinton’s Cottages? Ideal for groups, each cottage has its own character and charm with open plan kitchen and living areas and quaint furnishings.
