Old Liquor Store York launches exciting new dining events

The owner of Old Liquor Store, York has unveiled a new programme of experience-led events you won’t want to miss.
Owner Ben Williams said, “There’s a shift in the way people dine out and we want to stay ahead of the curve. People are looking for more than just a meal now – they want an experience, something social, memorable and good value.
These events are about giving people more reasons to come together, try something different and keep supporting local hospitality businesses.”
Whilst their core brunch, lunch, and dinner offerings remain at the heart of the business, The Old Liquor Store wants to showcase their York Racecourse events.

The venue hopes its new ‘The Final Furlong’ concept – combining DJs, bespoke menus and drinks packages – will position The Old Liquor Store as a go-to post-races destination in York.
The Final Furlong evenings will take place after the John Smith’s Cup, on July 10th and 11th as well as Sky Bet Ebor Festival from August 19th to 22nd.
Every month from June The Old Liquor Store will also host a Tasting Menu, kicking off with Proper – A Plant-based night held on June 25th.
“We’ve never done plant-based food before, so this one is experimental and designed as a love letter to the food we were raised on. It’s a really fun menu and the kitchen team has come up with some classics – but, of course, with our own twist,” Ben Williams tells us.
Diners can enjoy dishes such as ‘chippy tea at home’ which features a nori and tofu finger, sea vegetable tartare crushed peas and broad beans and salt and malt vinegar net.

As well as a ‘curry night’ dish with curry roasted cauliflower and chickpea Rogan Josh, green gooseberry and lime pickle, fermented black garlic rice and peshwari naan.
July’s Tasting Menu will focus on 1980s party food reimagined as party meals, to coincide with The Old Liquor Store’s third birthday.
In August, The Old Liquor Store will host a three-day Beer Festival over the bank holiday weekend, offering pints from £5 and a great selection of live music.
“We launched the beer festival last year and it was a huge success, so this year we’re extending it over the three days. The kitchen operation switches to street food and we partner with local breweries and distilleries, who build keg bars and a cocktail bar on site”, Ben Williams says.

The new programme of events will sit alongside the venue’s popular Burger and Quiz night, every Wednesday, as well as a new Steak Night every Thursday (from June 4th), where the team will offer exceptional cuts of meat from R&J Butchers.
And if that wasn’t enough, Ben and the team also plan on screening the England World Cup games on June 17th, 23rd and 27th.
