The Inspiration
Like many of us, Natalie Firth spent most of the last eighteen months washing up. “I moved into my house two and a half years ago, and until Covid hit I had never used the dishwasher.” Confined to our four walls, days were punctuated by walks and mealtimes, and with more mouths to feed, the nation went from cooking one meal a day, with a maybe a few nights out, to cooking seven days a week. With new bedroom office setups and homeschooling added to the mix, Natalie relates, “it’s been tough…Covid was a lifestyle change for many people…but it made us appreciate the important things, the smaller things.”

That desire to cherish every moment, especially with others, was where the ‘reclaim your time’ meal plans were born. Just The Fox Kitchen lets you choose from a tempting two or three-day plan packed full of goodness, that you can either serve cold or heat and eat. Who is Just The Fox Kitchen For?
Natalie’s customer base started with busy working women looking for delicious yet nutritious meals without effort. Turned off by the gym-based solutions on the market, which were very male-focused and all about calories and macros, her approach is more balanced.
Everything in moderation…if sitting down with a cake and a coffee makes you feel good – then why isn’t that healthy?” Yet her colourful buddha bowls, spiced salads and hearty mains has grown Just The Fox into one of Yorkshire’s most enjoyable grab and go options. She’s even converted her friends from Hello Fresh boxes and takeaways.
Having made the move from the professional kitchen to home business “when I make the weekly menus now, I eat them myself, it’s easier, and a great way of testing and checking the quality is right.”

The Chef’s Background
Natalie always had a passion for cooking, and after a career as a school design and food technology teacher, she re-trained and went back to college to get her wine and culinary qualifications. Various stints at Leeds establishments such as Friends of Ham left her craving the morning routine of her job in education, so when Matt Healy opened Grön three years ago as a brunch centred Kafé, she jumped at the Executive Chef opportunity.
The Menu
It wasn’t just the tricks of the trade that Natalie learnt from the MasterChef finalist, but also a knowledge of veganism and more of a health-conscious way of eating. Now Just The Fox Kitchen work with yoga and fitness studios such as Salutations Studio in Howden, and North Studio in Roundhay, to provide pre or post-class fuel for active members. But this is intuitive nutrition, not dull diet food. Dips, garnishes and oils add texture, flavour and vibrancy to dishes, all packaged up in sustainable Vegware. So loaded are they that it’s often a struggle to get the lids on. “My prep chefs laugh at me as I’m shouting – no this one needs more pomegranate seeds!”
What To Expect?
You certainly get more than your money’s worth with Just The Fox Kitchen’s large portions, especially if you sign up for a rolling subscription, where the customer is in charge. Simply choose your meal plan, or create your own to suit your household’s needs. Then pick your delivery slot, which falls on Mondays and Fridays if you’re based in North and West Yorkshire, or Tuesdays for South and East Yorkshire.
Everything is oven and microwave friendly and comes with neat instructions so you can sit back and relish breakfast lunch or dinner without the chopping, stirring and clearing up.
Menus are seasonal too, and you won’t see meals repeated in the same month. Expect smoked mozzarella Panzanella salad, and asparagus hollandaise in Summer, and warming butternut squash soups and Moroccan stews in Autumn. Cold-pressed juices come in bottles such as carrot ginger and lime, or cucumber apple, pineapple and celery, handmade by Natalie’s team, with literally nothing else added.
