Cosy up for a catch up over charcuterie sharing boards and natural wines, this guide has you covered.

Cavo
Situated in York’s Cocoa Works, CAVO is a community cafe, wine bar and small plate eatery. Their wall of wines is curated by local suppliers Field & Fawcett, and there’s plenty to choose from.
If you’re stuck for choice, Cavo’s knowledgeable staff can help you pick the perfect glass to pair with tasty bar snacks and small plates. This spot has a cosy atmosphere and uses the best local produce – perfect for a foodie date night.

Pairings
Next we have Pairings, an elegant little wine bar just down the road from Clifford’s Tower. Owned by sister duo Kelly & Kate, this spot has a large array of selected wines, cocktails and Whiskeys to choose from.
The food menu perfectly accompanies their selection of wines, with salty Gordal olives, deli platters of delicious meats and cheeses, and fresh seasonal salads.
This spot is ideal for a small gathering with friends, or intimate date night.

2 Many Wines
Nestled in one of our favourite foodie streets in York, Bishopthorpe Road, 2 Many Wines is a bustling wine bar and tasting room – one of the best wine bars in York. Voted by both locals and tourists.
Pop by for a fresh coffee and ciabatta sandwich in the afternoon, or a crisp glass of wine in the evening. Outside of the busier city centre, you can really savour your glass here.
Occasionally, they have live music nights and tasting experiences too – perfect for a group get-together or celebration. If you’re on the hunt for something a little stronger, they also do a great selection of classic cocktails.

Owners Adrian and Richard are passionate about all things food and wine, and have quickly made 22 Yards a desirable cosy wine spot in the city centre.
There are tempting snacks, small plates and lunch plates – think fresh oysters, beef tartare and delicious cheeses from Courtyard Dairy.

Howl
Just opposite Pairings Wine Bar, Howl is a tiny bottle shop and wine bar. With a cosy candlelit glow come the evening, this cafe-bar has a friendly, community feel to it.
Howl specialises in low-intervention wines and craft beers, which you can take away and gift to others if you don’t have time to stop by.
Their in-house bottle shop was named in the ‘Top 30’ by the Sunday Times, so you’re bound to find one that catches your eye.
They have a range of delicious, seasonal sharing plates which change regularly too, if you get pekish. This has to be one of the best wine bars in York.
