Two Yorkshire hotels have been shortlisted in the prestigious Boutique Hotelier Awards 2026, with both The Grand York and Grantley Hall recognised among the UK’s leading luxury hospitality destinations.
Following hundreds of nominations, this year’s shortlist features independent hotels, luxury retreats and standout destinations across seven categories celebrating excellence in hospitality.
The award categories include: The Best New Hotel, Best Spa, Best Hotel Restaurant and Best Hotel Bar. New for 2026, Best Hotel Digital Transformation honours businesses using technology to enhance the guest journey. The Suite of the Year category also returns, showcasing some of the UK’s most impressive new and refurbished luxury accommodation.

Best Hotel Shortlists: Grantley Hall & The Grand York
Grantley Hall, near Ripon in North Yorkshire, is a five-star luxury country house hotel set within beautifully landscaped grounds. Renowned for its Michelin-starred dining, world-class spa and wellness facilities, and luxurious accommodation, the hotel has established itself as one of the country’s premier countryside retreats. Shortlisted for two categories, best hotel and best hotel bar.

Best Spa Shortlist: SubRosa Spa at The Grand York
Located in the heart of York, The Grand York is the city’s only five-star hotel, combining Edwardian grandeur with contemporary luxury. The hotel is home to elegant rooms and suites, a luxury spa, and award-winning dining, making it one of Yorkshire’s best-known luxury stays.
SubRosa Spa at The Grand, York is a newly redeveloped luxury wellness destination set within the hotel’s historic underground vaults. It features a hydrotherapy pool, saunas, steam rooms, a double hammam, Rasul mud room, relaxation spaces, and a range of treatments using premium skincare brands such as Elemis and SeaBody, alongside a wellness-focused restaurant. Already gaining industry recognition, SubRosa Spa has been shortlisted for Best Spa in the Boutique Hotelier Awards, cementing its reputation as one of the UK’s leading luxury spa experiences.

Public voting is open until midnight on Monday, 17 August 2026, with the winners announced at a black-tie ceremony on Monday, 14 September 2026, at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square.
