Interview with Delicieux Chocolat’s Master Chocolatier Reece Hunt

We chatted to West Yorkshire’s very own Willy Wonka. Master Chocolatier and Director of Delicieux Chocolat, Reece Hunt, to hear more about his new business, passion for working with the finest ingredients and showcasing the very best chocolate products to his ever-growing foodie following.

Delicieux Chocolat: The background

Like most great food stories, Reece’s first introduction to the hospitality industry started with a job in the kitchen at a local restaurant. Due to a staff member calling in sick Reece was tasked with helping on the desserts section and relished the creativity that working with all things sweet allowed. From then on Reece decided to start entering competitions via catering college to further his experience.

His first forays into the world of chocolate saw Reece assisting UK Master Chocolatiers John Costello and Ruth Hinks at various competitions, most notably The Chocolate World Cup in Paris.

From then on Reece got a job as a Food Innovation Technologist, working in the manufacturing side of patisserie to develop a range of products for the UK’s largest bakery manufacturers, major UK retailers, hotels, restaurants, as well as chocolate distributors.

The passion Reece has for creating first to market ideas has led him to win various prestigious awards, both personally and for the products he has created.

From the manufacturing and product development side, Reece then moved to work with one of the UK’s biggest retailers as a product developer to understand the business processes to take an idea and turn it into a best seller on the supermarket shelves. It was here that Reece felt it was time to launch his own brand, Delicieux Chocolat, and showcase the very best produce into a selection of artisan bars, truffles and drinking chocolates to be enjoyed by the many.

Delicieux Chocolat, the story so far

Since officially launching the business in August 2021 Reece has been busy developing a range of core products to highlight the amazing flavour profiles of premium origin chocolates.

From his production kitchen in Holmfirth, Reece creates a selection of chocolate bars, truffles, tasting discs, drinking chocolates, celebration boxes and more.

Throughout the range, chocolate lovers can enjoy the finest plantation grown cacao from Latin America and Africa. Reece has even developed a bar of the month selection to enjoy a new single-origin chocolate bar each month.

Dark, milk and white chocolate lovers are covered, together with the latest innovations of ruby and gold chocolates, made from the ruby cacao bean and caramelised milk and sugars to give a taste sensation not found anywhere else.
