Eddie Scott, MasterChef winner opens his own restaurant in Beverley this May

On May 1, Eddie Scott, the winner of MasterChef 2022, will launch his very own restaurant, L’Opaline Bistrot in Beverley, East Yorkshire.

In honour of Eddie Scott’s love of both Indian and French food, the restaurant will serve a combination of both regional specialities.

Thursday through Saturday, the restaurant will provide French and Indian fare; on Wednesdays, however, a biryani feast ”Scott’s speciality” will take place.

L’Opaline Bistrot serves the Mâchon, a traditional Lyonnais brunch, on communal tables every Sunday. Eddie Scott, MasterChef winner said: “Sunday will play host to a great Lyonnais breakfast tradition, where a hearty four-course brunch will be served on communal tables with plenty of Beaujolais!”

Eddie Scott, who has worked alongside culinary legend Gordon Ramsey, said that the restaurant unites his two culinary passions in an Instagram post.

He said: “L’Opaline represents everything that I love about food and will be a celebration of my passion for the classic cuisines of France and India – featuring no-nonsense, rustic and regional dishes, very reflective of the bustling local bistrots that I love to eat in.

The menu will of course feature my signature biryani. The restaurant brings together my two culinary worlds.”

For those wondering how the restaurant name came about, Eddie Scott from MasterChef revealed: “It was my favourite ever restaurant in France. Each summer we would visit a supermarket cafeteria by the name of “l’Opaline”.

It was in this vintage 1970s eatery that I was first exposed to the great cuisine of France and the name has always stuck with me. The original “l’Opaline” was demolished in the early 2000s, but lives on again in another guise.”

L’Opaline Bistrot is due to open its doors on Wednesday 1st May, at 36 Highgate in Beverley. We’re sure it’ll quickly become one of the best restaurants in Beverley.
