//= get_the_date( 'dS F Y' ); ?>
We loved and we’ve lost many beloved hot spots in the Yorkshire restaurant scene last year, but 2025 is looking to be the year of new restaurant openings. We’ve pulled together the best so far, including new awards, new chefs and new exciting concepts.
Authentic Greek street food at Inos, York
From those who brought us Sasa Greek Streetfood in Spark York, comes INOS. This new spot is serving authentic Greek small plates, with fantastic wines and warm hospitality.
Situated on Piccadilly, Inos is just a stone’s throw from York City centre, with plenty of cosy bars nearby.
Their dishes include hot honey halloumi, mousaka and Loukaniko – a smokey grilled sausage. We can’t wait to give this new restaurant a try.
Emba launches on Leeds’ canal
Leeds’ culinary star Elizabeth Cottam, visionary behind celebrated spots like The Owl, has launched a brand new gastro bar, Emba. Set against a stunning waterside backdrop of Leeds canal, the laid-back yet vibrant venue is the perfect spot for after-work drinks, sharing snacks with friends, or settling in for a set menu with expertly paired wines.
Expect bold, fire-cooked flavours, indulgent comfort food, and a drinks list that’s constantly evolving. Think ten rotating craft beers on tap, a fridge full of discoveries, a stellar wine range, and both classic and creative cocktails.
Malmaison Leeds brings back beloved menu
Malmaison Leeds hasn’t necessarily gone anywhere, but it has had a makeover and bold new menu to match.
Following the refresh, the Brasserie and Bar is returning to their roots and much-loved Chez Mal brand, rejoining Malmaison’s bustling foodie scene. With space to welcome 60 diners, expect a contemporary British brasserie vibe with a subtle French twist. Chez Mal is open seven days a week from 7am-9pm.
CrowdedHouse to open for sun-soaked terrace dining, Leeds
Taking over the previous Angelica Crafthouse site, CrowdedHouse is a stunning new venue, which will offer panoramic views and an outdoor terrace. Brought to us by the owner of one of our favourite restaurants in Harrogate, Three’s A Crowd, we know we’re going to be in safe hands.
Whether it’s a post-work cocktail with views of the city’s skyline, a gathering with friends or a sophisticated date night to remember, CrowdedHouse is a welcome new opening in Leeds.
Keep your eyes peeled, they are set to open sometime this summer!
This ones just for the dogs, Drewtons Farm Shop, East Yorkshire
Perched on the edge of the peaceful Yorkshire Wolds Way, Katie Taylor MBE opened Drewtons in 2010, determined to share her passion for both food, farming and community with the sleepy outskirts of South Cave.
Having built up a fantastic reputation for being the ideal location for weddings, staycations and of course dining out – Katie and her team unveiled their brand-new dog-friendly dining room in March.
The Terrace ensures all for four-legged friends are catered for with a specially crafted Doggie Menu including treats, main meals, ice cream, and even beer, all curated to promote the health and happiness of four-legged visitors.

This spot is situated on the popular Sharrowvale Road, neighbouring some of our favourite coffee stops, bars and restaurants in the city.
With carefully crafted cocktails, sharing plates and a weekly special two or three-course menu, Six and a half could be a new foodie gem.
Fold Focacceria, the new in-house bakery by Cheesy Living Co, Leeds
Little has been said by the Cheesy Living Co team, but we know that we can expect that Fold Focacceria will bake all the bread, bagels, artisan pastries and treats Cheesy Living sells. They have big ambitions about opening it up to the public for on the go sarnies, hot drinks and other baked goodies.
It’s set to open this year.
Black Wheat Club, York
