Fat Hippo Leeds Opens in Headingley This Week

A group of independent burger restaurants found in the North East, Sheffield and Nottingham, is opening their seventh site, Fat Hippo, Leeds, in Headingley this week.

The company, who specialise in mighty burgers, loaded fries and more ‘good old fashioned, roll up your sleeves and get it all over your face’ food, will open the brand new restaurant at 8 Otley Road, Headingley for takeaway on Friday 5th February.

Customers can pre-order their Fat Hippo fix up to 7 days in advance using the restaurant’s Click and Collect service or via Deliveroo, to allow customers to enjoy Fat Hippo Leeds’ signature burgers in the comfort of their own home.

Famed for its quality ingredients and quirky flavours

Michael Phillips, who founded Fat Hippo in the North East in 2010 said: “After a successful stint in Trinity Kitchen and a staycation at Leeds Festival with our Fleet, it was only a matter of time before Fat Hippo Leeds opened.

The people of Leeds have always been so welcoming and have made it known over the years on our social channels that they want a Fat Hippo set up here. Our new location on Otley Road is the perfect place to finally bring ‘the good kind of gluttony’ to Leeds permanently”.

The family-friendly burger joint is famed for its quality ingredients and quirky flavours, with burgers like their PB&J (a beef burger topped with peanut butter and bacon jam) available, alongside the classics.

Michael Johnson, the company’s Operations Manager, said: “It’s been an incredible ride over the last ten years feeding the ever-growing herd of burger lovers and now it’s time to add Fat Hippo Leeds’ best burger pit stop to the infamous Otley Run”.

Fat Hippo will open for dine-in, with table bookings available via their website, once restrictions have eased.
