The Grand York Celebrates Double Award Success

The Grand, York, the city’s only five-star hotel, has been awarded two significant food and drink awards in recent weeks, including Legacy at The Grand, York.

The Cookery School at The Grand, York has been named Cookery School of the Year at The Food and Travel Awards, a testament to the school’s excellence in culinary education.

Led by Marc Williams, the school’s director, alongside Luke Palmer, chef tutor, the state-of-the-art facility is a haven where aspiring chefs and food enthusiasts can embark on a journey of immersive learning and creativity.

Adding to the excitement, Legacy, The Grand’s fine dining restaurant in York headed up by Kevin Bonello and Ahmed Abdalla, has been awarded an AA Notable Wine List accolade.

This recognition celebrates Derek Scaife, Sommelier and Restaurant Manager, and the team’s dedication to curating an exceptional wine selection which perfectly complements the delicious tasting menu, which features locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

The restaurant has already been awarded three AA rosettes, making it one of the best restaurants in York.

“The accolades are a testament to the creativity and dedication of our teams at Legacy and The Cookery School, motivating us to continue delivering exceptional experiences,” said Chris Cooper, Acting General Manager of The Grand, York.

“We are incredibly proud of both these achievements.” Both awards reinforce The Grand, York as a must-visit dining destination.

Legacy at The Grand’s stylish interior pays homage to the engineers and architects who made the city of York the city it is today.

The restaurant boasts innovative cuisine made with only the best local and sustainable Yorkshire produce while providing unmatched hospitality.
