The Yorkshire restaurants named in the Top 100 List at National Restaurant Awards

Three restaurants in Yorkshire have made it into the top 100 list in the National Restaurant Awards held last night.

Mýse in Hovingham, York, The Angel at Hetton, and The Black Swan at Oldstead all placed in the top 100 list, with all Yorkshire additions placing in the top 50 restaurants in the UK.

Owners Joshua and Victoria Overington of Myse also won the Restaurateur of the Year award at the National Restaurant Awards, following the success of Mýse’s opening in 2023.

Mýse placed 17th in the top 100 list, marking an incredibly successful year for the business that opened in June last year after winning a Michelin star just 7 months after opening.

On their win of Restaurateur of the Year, the National Restaurant Awards stated on their website “The young duo have succeeded in creating a contemporary restaurant that is supremely welcoming and accommodating.”

“As well as offering a great experience to its customers the restaurant is also looking after its staff, operating a four-day week. As an overall package, Mýse simply dazzles.”

Known as one of the first gastropubs in the UK, The Angel at Hetton in Skipton also placed in the top 50 of the National Restaurant Awards sitting at 37th on the list.

Head Chef Michael Wignall has transformed The Angel, with adventurous a la carte menus and tasting menus alongside his wife Johanna, winning a Michelin Star and 4 AA Rosettes.

They announced on social media “Fantastic to be placed number 37 in the @nationalrestaurantawards Top 100! Thank you to our awesome team and all that voted for us!”

The final Yorkshire addition to the Top 100 of the National Restaurant Awards is the prestigious The Black Swan at Oldstead, placing 41st in the list.

Named The Best Restaurant in the World by Tripadvisor in 2017, the popular North Yorkshire gastropub gained a global audience for its food thanks to head chef Tommy Banks.

The gastropub didn’t stop there with its awards, also winning a Michelin Star, 4 AA Rosettes and a Good Food Guide recommendation.
