National Restaurant Awards reveals Yorkshire venues in top 100
//= get_the_date( 'dS F Y' ); ?>
Hot off the press, the National Restaurant Awards have just announced the UK’s top 100 restaurants. With 5 incredible Yorkshire restaurants making it onto the list, we’re so excited to be recognised nationally for our thriving foodie scene.
From gastropubs to French brasseries, there was strong competition, but we’ve made it into one of the top spots with Sheffield gem, JÖRO. Let’s take a look at who else represented Yorkshire on the list.
National Restaurant Awards reveals Yorkshire venues in top 100
No.13 – JÖRO Sheffield
Found just on the outskirts of the Peak District, Michelin-starred JÖRO offers an innovative tasting menu with Nordic and Japanese influences.
Run by Luke and Stacey French, it’s quickly become one of Sheffield’s landmark culinary destinations, expanding from their original shipping-container premises to include indulgent accommodation and beautiful outdoor space. It’s no surprise they’ve placed so well on this list.
JÖRO Oughtibridge Mill, Main Rd, Wharncliffe Side, Sheffield S35 0LB

No.47 – The Angel at Hetton
At 47 and making it into the top 50 is The Angel at Hetton, by Simon Wignall and his wife Johanna. This legendary gastropub with culinary prowess dating back to the 80s serves more than your classic pub grub.
Chef-owner Simon scored The Angel at Hetton a Michelin star back in 2019, which they’ve retained ever since, upholding this place as one of our favourites in Yorkshire.

National Restaurant Awards top 100: No.71 – The Black Swan at Oldstead
Just an hour’s drive from York in the chocolate-box village of Oldstead, is The Black Swan, where Head Chef Alice Power takes advantage of the stretching gardens and 2 acres of growing beds that lead the menu.
Owned by Tommy Banks and his family, the restaurant has also been awarded The Michelin Green Star, which recognises a commitment to sustainability.
Oldstead, York YO61 4BL
No.78 – The Star Inn, Harome
The 14th-century, thatched-roof Star Inn at Harome is a charming, Michelin-starred inn oozing with character.
Decorated with many prestigious awards and titles, chef-patron Andrew Pern and chef Stephen Smith’s dedication to their craft has earned the inn a place as one of Yorkshire’s most iconic venues.

National Restaurant Awards top 100: No.83 – Bavette, Horsforth
This hidden gem in Horsforth has really taken some well-deserved time in the limelight recently. The friendly neighbourhood bistro showcases some beautiful seasonal plates with a little bit of French je nais se quois.
We are delighted that this venue made the list as a go-to spot for elevated yet relaxed dining. Owned by Sandy Jarvis and Clément Cousin, they have a genuine passion for food and drink that most clearly shines through.
