Paradise Tap & Taco launch new Harrogate Bar

On 19th January 2024, husband and wife owner-operators Ellie and Josh Molloy launched Paradise in Harrogate. Extensively refurbishing a derelict storage unit to a bar, showcasing Mexican-inspired street food to eat in or take away, alongside six keg beers, two cask ales, wines and spirits.

Following the creation of the brand, Paradise held successful residencies within Cold Bath Brewing and Rooster’s Taproom.

Paradise’s new permanent residence in Harrogate comprises of three rooms of seating over two floors, featuring cosy sofas, an open kitchen, and a pool table – with a focus on creating an inclusive, informal, comfortable environment.

Before founding Paradise in 2020, Ellie and Josh’s shared experience includes management roles at Harrogate independents Major Tom’s Social, Hoxton North and Rooster’s Taproom, totalling a combined 12 years.

With an opening menu consisting of burritos, tacos, quesadillas and fries, Paradise is to offer a fresh, affordable, casual alternative to Harrogate’s restaurants, cafes and takeaways.

Ellie, who primarily focuses on the kitchen at Paradise, said, “We’ve created the bar that we would want to visit ourselves, as customers. We’ve taken little bits of inspiration from all the places we love and combined them into our own Paradise.

We think it’s so important that it’s approachable and welcoming, a place where you feel at home whether you’re out with friends for drinks, or with the family for tea.”

Bar Manager of Paradise in Harrogate, Josh, echoes her sentiment, “Harrogate is blessed with so many brilliant restaurants, but often as customers, we’ve found that’s not what we’d like, on that occasion. We hope Paradise can offer something much less formal, more casual and more relaxed.

We’re not offering table service, or telling people where to sit, or even offering cutlery. We’re doing our absolute best to offer value for money in the face of the cost of living crisis, and we must have bought every second-hand sofa in a 10-mile radius!”

Located REAR OF 26 Oxford Street, access via the road adjoining Cheltenham Crescent and Union Street, HG1 1PU. Paradise opened its doors in Harrogate on Friday 19th January 2024.

The bar is licenced to sell alcohol until 1 am, and the kitchen is open until 9 pm. Reservations are not required, although large groups may wish to contact in advance.
