Wellies at the ready, it’s pumpkin-picking time. Where else better than the stunning Yorkshire countryside to get messy and get picking the most beautiful homegrown pumpkins, ready to be carved in time for the Halloween season.
From hen farms to fourth-generation farms, Yorkshire agriculture is all for getting involved with the festivities, so we have curated a list of our favourite places where you can go pumpkin picking in Yorkshire.
Best places for pumpkin picking in Yorkshire
Farmer Copley’s
Beginning with just one pig, Farmer Copley’s now hosts an award-winning farm shop, music festivals and most importantly, their annual pumpkin festival.
Just in-between South Yorkshire’s Pontefract and Featherstone, they’ve been in the farming game for over 140 years. They mean business with this year’s pumpkin picking festivities, having grown over 250,000 pumpkins of all sorts of varieties.
More than just pumpkin picking, there will be plenty on to entertain, including live shows, archery, a fancy dress competition, street food, festival bars, and excellent photo opportunities.

Yolk Farm Pumpkin Picking
Based near Minskip, Borough Bridge is the vibrant hen farm and restaurant Yolk. The world’s first egg-centred restaurant, set on their stunning high welfare hen farm in the heart of Yorkshire’s countryside.
From the 4th of October, they will be opening their famously spooky pumpkin patch, where you can also expect to see some chickens joining in on the fun.
It’s advised to book beforehand as last year was a great success – it is £6.50 per picker but means you can enjoy the rest of what Yolk has to offer, including their pigs, alpacas and award-winning farm shop!

Birchfield Family Dairies
If you’re looking for the perfect day in the Yorkshire Dales, look no further than Birchfield Family Dairies. We are so excited about their pumpkin patch this year, nestled in the Nidderdale valley, it’s the ideal setting for pumpkin picking.
They’re opening the weekend of the 27th September all the way through until the 31st October. There are thousands to pick from, of all different colours, shapes and sizes in three different fields, so you’ll certainly be kept busy.
If you have time, why not stop and try one of their famously delicious homemade ice creams straight from their dairy? No booking for their pumpkin festival is required, just pay for the pumpkins that you pick!

Cannon Hall Farm
On selected dates in October, Cannon Hall Farm in Cawthorne, Barnsley, will be opening its patch of almost 10,000 pumpkins for picking. Make your selection, and then take your pumpkin to expert carvers who can make your spooky vision come to life.
There are plenty of activities to get stuck in with, including visiting the farm animals, outdoor adventure play, and sheep and ferret racing!
Pay a visit to their amazing farm shop, famous for its home-produced beef, pork, lamb, and sausages, as well as their on-site bakery and tearoom. Fancy dress is strongly encouraged, with a chance to win a prize!
It is advised to book tickets in advance on their website. The event is available on selected dates between October 4th and October 31st.

Stockeld Park
Iconic activity farm Stockeld Park in North Yorkshire is not missing out on the fun this year. They are back, bigger and better than ever! Take a ride on the tractor down to the pumpkin patch to see for yourself.
Open every weekend in October and daily through half term, choose from traditional carving pumpkins or other cute variations. All sorts of photo opportunities are set up on the patch, including their pumpkin wagon.
The fun doesn’t end there – entry to pumpkin picking lets you into the maze and the six different playgrounds, a perfect child-friendly, spooky day out!

Monk Park Farm
The Great Yorkshire Pumpkin Patch is the perfect family-friendly venue for pumpkin picking. Take a pick of one of their specially selected pumpkins and have a go at carving it yourself!
With perfect photo opportunities, carnival games and a Pumpkin Market where you can find sweet treats and autumnal goodies, it’s one of our favourites for pumpkin picking.
If you’re looking for something a bit more grown-up with less face paint and witches’ costumes, Monk Park Farm are also hosting a nighttime pumpkin patch. Think, festoon lights, live music, street food and drinks.
Make sure to pre-book tickets online, but note that tickets only include admission to the pumpkin patch, not the farm.

Kemp’s Farm – Horsforth pick your own
Horsforth’s PYO is back on the 27th September for pumpkin picking and autumnal vibes! All the pumpkins are grown themselves with fifty different varieties chosen by farmer Rob.
They’re a family-run farm of four generations with three pick your own locations across Yorkshire. During the summer, they offer soft fruit and flower picking and then pumpkin and Christmas trees as the winter draws in.
Make sure to get your tickets swiftly as they’re known to sell out quickly! Ticket price includes parking, a tractor ride, and prices of pumpkins start at as little as £2.50.

Yorkshire Pumpkin Picking – Lodge Farm
If you’re looking for leopard print pumpkins, Lodge Farm is the place to visit. This third-generation farm, run by the Barker family, grows cereal crops such as wheat, barley, and oilseed rape.
They began growing pumpkins for picking in 2018, they’re now growing over fifty types!
You’ll find excellent photo opportunities with a vintage tractor and a bale sofa. There are also fun activities like pumpkin bowling and pumpkin noughts and crosses, along with a huge bale mountain to explore. Plus, Stable Pizza Co. will be serving delicious wood-fired pizzas.

Spilman’s Yorkshire Pumpkin Picking
Family-owned farm, Spilman’s is run by husband and wife Richard and Sally and sons Tom and Joss. They pride themselves on their warm Yorkshire welcome to the farm and promise to deliver an incredible day out.
Their pumpkin picking is no exception to this! Having planted over 175,000 pumpkins at their farm in Sessay, Thirsk, they are ready to host an incredible experience with something for everyone to enjoy.
Activities include fancy dress discos for the little ones, excellent photo opportunities and even a twilight pumpkin picking – where you can pick your pumpkins at night, accompanied by live music, a bar and street food!

The Pumpkin Picking at Bewholme
For a jam-packed day of pumpkin picking, The Pumpkin Patch at Bewholme is well prepared. Beginning in 2010, hand planting 1000 pumpkin plants on 0.25 acres, 15 years later, they’re growing pumpkins across twelve acres of land.
As well as 43 different types of pumpkins to pick, there’s a whole host of things to do at Bewholme’s pumpkin patch. Grab a drink from Mimis horse box, did someone say pumpkin spiced latte? Or a pizza from The Two Tossers Neapolitan-style pizza.
Other activities at the pumpkin patch include a golden pumpkin hunt, pumpkin carving and fun games like noughts and squashes. Expect great photo opportunities and a delightful autumn atmosphere at one of our favourite pumpkin patches in East Yorkshire.

Bert’s Barrow Pumpkin Picking
In the scenic village of Hillam, North Yorkshire, is Bert’s Barrow a small family-run farm with an award-winning farm shop. After their busy summer of hosting weddings around their farm, October brings 80,000 pumpkins for picking!
No tickets are required (unless the car park becomes soggy), so rock up with your wellies and only pay for the pumpkins you pick. There’s a small fairground to enjoy as well as street food and a bar, what more could you want!
