Yorkshire restaurants make the Square Meal list of top 100 restaurants
//= get_the_date( 'dS F Y' ); ?>
Square Meal has released its top 100 restaurants list, with tasting menus, elevated pub classics and Indian dinner spots being highlighted as some of the best.
Whilst here at Yorkshire Food Guide we are well aware of our region’s gorgeous dining destinations, it’s always good to get a second opinion.
Here are the Yorkshire restaurants making the list:

Myse, Hovingham
Impressively making the top 10 is Myse, nestled in the picturesque village of Hovingham, North Yorkshire.
This restaurant features a fresh, British-tasting menu experience from the Chef and Sommelier team, Joshua and Victoria Overington. There’s an emphasis on sustainability, with dry-aged locally reared meats, and foraged ingredients utilised in their signature cocktails.

JÖRO, Sheffield
Next up is Jöro, at Outibridge Mill, which seeks to offer a truly immersive dining experience through its curated set menus. With only eleven tables and no dress code, Jöro is the perfect setting for those with a complete passion for food.
Chef-patron Luke French describes Jöro as an urban restaurant influenced by nature, using quality local produce for dishes that are bound to impress.

At the heart of Leeds city centre is Tharavadu, a spot for moreish south Indian cuisine that has become a firm favourite for many. Crisp Dosas, simmered paneer and plenty of chutneys- delicious.

The Angel at Hetton, Skipton
Sat within the Yorkshire Dales, The Angel at Hetton secured a Michelin star in 2024, just 12 months after opening. They offer an a-la-carte menu, or a luxurious tasting menu with optional wine pairing.
If you pay them a visit, expect skillfully prepared dishes, from fresh, marinated scallops to east coast lobster.

Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, Ripon
Yorkshire-born and bred Shaun Rankin honed his skills at The Mayfair Hotel and London, but now he resides at one of Ripon’s most favoured 5-star hotels, Grantley Hall.
Using ingredients from their very own Garden Kitchen, The Kitchen Table dining experience is available for up to six guests and is located at the heart of Shaun Rankin’s kitchen, providing an exciting exclusive menu.

Roots, York
Roots is headed up Great British Menu North East winner Will Lockwood, with ‘Core’ and ‘Signature’ tasting menus tempting tourists and locals in York city centre.
There’s experimental and adventurous drinks packages to compliment your array of dishes, and plenty of vegetarian and pescatarian options.

Forge at Middleton Lodge
With a stunning stone interior, log-burning fires and quality food, there’s no wonder Forge has made Square Meal top 100.
Choose decadent 6-course or 10-course tasting menus, with fine dining inspired the lush greenery of the surrounding estate.

Bavette, Horsforth
A neighbourhood bistro with community feel, Bavette brings french flair to the centre of Leeds. Owners Sandy & Clément met whilst working in a wine bar and bistro in London. Their shared passion for great food has led to the success of this spot.
Go for aperitifs, charcuterie and decadent desserts.

The Abbey Inn Byland
A nineteenth-century, historic inn transformed into a cosy, relaxed country pub with rooms, overlooking the historic ruins of Byland Abbey in North Yorkshire. Pub classics are elevated, using the best local meats and fresh seafood.
The Abbey Inn was even crowned No.1 in The Good Food Guide’s Best Sunday Roast List 2024, and it has clearly managed to impress Square Meal too.

Bench, Sheffield
Bench is a contemporary bistro with an outdoor terrace, offering an innovative but generally informal dining experience. The owners pride themselves on a varied and changeable evening menu for guests to choose from.
Bench has even managed to gain national acclaim and ranked in the Top 50 cocktail bars in the UK, the only restaurant to do so.
They’re a relatively small site in Nether Edge, so we’d suggest getting booked in.

The Box Tree is one of the oldest buildings in Ilkley but was eventually established as a restaurant in 1962. Their menus continue to excite guests with an unforgettable foodie experience and change frequently depending on seasonal availability.
The restaurant has a timeless, comfortable feel to it, featuring a collection of art and antiques. It’s one of our favourites, as well as it making the cut for Square Meal.
