New venture for Michelin Starred chef, Tommy Banks

Renowned, Michelin-starred Yorkshire chef Tommy Banks has started a brand new project, Jeopardy Hospitality (JH).
Working with business partner Matthew Lockwood, brother James Banks and businessman Neil Armstrong, this exciting new project will aim to reopen and bring new life to Yorkshire pubs, preventing them from closing completely.

Tommy Banks was awarded his first Michelin star at the age of just 24.
He now owns three much-loved Michelin-starred restaurants in North Yorkshire, including The Black Swan at Oldstead, Roots in York, and The Abbey Inn, Byland.

Tommy Banks said: “When a pub shuts its doors, it rarely reopens, and it’s devastating to read reports that we’ve lost 6 pubs a week so far this year, and I fear this is just the tip of the iceberg.”
First on their list is The General Tarleton, Ferrensby, which closed its doors in 2020, during the COVID pandemic.
Jeopardy Hospitality hope to restore and reopen this historic coaching inn in time for summer, complete with a private dining area, extensive beer garden and large bar.

“We’re not just reopening pubs, we’re bringing them back with care, character, and a focus on what makes them special. It’s about creating spaces where people can gather, enjoy good food, and celebrate local heritage.
“Times are tough, and it’s easy to pull back, but in the UK hospitality scene, growth is the only way forward. With rising costs and changing regulations, expanding helps us use our resources wisely and build something that lasts”, he says.
