£15m expansion planned for Trinity Kitchen Leeds

Trinity Leeds has announced a drastic makeover of the iconic Trinity Kitchen, featuring a £15 million expansion that will include a brand new roof terrace with views over the city centre.

Freight Island, the team behind the UK’s leading food hall and entertainment venue, will operate the expanded Trinity Kitchen, completely transforming the space into a one-of-a-kind destination and an unrivalled food hall experience.

Since it started back in 2013, Trinity Kitchen has transformed the traditional food court into a lively indoor street-food haven! With a delightful mix of permanent vendors and a rotating lineup of street-food vans, it’s been all about supporting independent traders – almost 300 of them – who have served over 800,000 hungry visitors each year.

Now, we’re excited to share that a fantastic new chapter is coming. A £15 million project has just received the green light from Leeds City Council, marking the biggest investment at Trinity Leeds since they first opened their doors.

The plans breathe new life into a previously unused space of 15,000 sq ft above Trinity Kitchen, turning it into an amazing 63,000 sq ft food and leisure destination – including a stunning new outdoor terrace that overlooks City Square.

Construction is set to kick off in late spring 2026, but don’t worry, Trinity Kitchen will remain open during this time. Once everything is complete, we’ll be welcoming Freight Island to manage this vibrant new space, bringing fresh energy and more to this foodie spot.

We’re incredibly excited to be bringing Freight Island to Trinity Leeds as part of this landmark expansion.

“This project allows us to build on what Trinity Kitchen already does so well, while introducing new energy, a brand-new entertainment space and a standout rooftop terrace overlooking the city. Food will remain at the heart of the venue, with menus driven by independent chefs and operators, alongside a programme of DJs, sports, performances, cultural and family events.
