La Liste ranks four Yorkshire restaurants as the best in the world​

Global grading system, La Liste, scores thousands of restaurants by looking at millions of reviews, guidebooks and publications. The new ranking system has revealed that four Yorkshire restaurants are the best in the world. 

75 UK restaurants made the list of 1,000, and better still – La Liste awarded England as the ‘New Destination Travel Award’, recognising our ‘full gastronomic boom’ that is ‘soon to be a must for gourmets’.

In the list, you’ll find a mix of Michelin star restaurants, newcomers and familiar-faced chefs. Read the list below:

The Black Swan, Oldstead

Run by Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks, The Black Swan is snuggled in between the impressive Bland Abbey ruins and Kilburn White Horse – right on the tip of the North York Moors.

Owning 4 AA Rosette restaurant with rooms, the family run business is dripping in culture, tradition and modern gastronomic creativity. They refresh the palate of produce, grow, rear and forage the offering themselves.

They also opened The Abbey Inn just up yonder from ousted, as well as Roots York on Marygate in York. La Liste scored them 86.5 per cent.

Myse, Hovingham

New on the scene but quick to climb the ranks as the best restaurant in the world, never mind Yorkshire, is Myse in Hovingham, North Yorkshire.

Having been awarded a coveted Michelin star within the first seven months of opening, this is no doubt another great achievement to add to their growing list.

Their concept is farm-to-plate, with seasonally changing menus and a produce-driven style of cooking. They also forage, ferment, and infuse their own drinks.

Husband and wife Josh and Vicky Overington sold up their previous restaurants Le Cochon Aveugle and Cave du Cochon in York to totally devote themselves to Myse. Their efforts have paid off as they scored 89.5 per cent.

The Angel, Hetton

The Angel at Hetton in the Yorkshire Dales is another Michelin-starred restaurant to make the list of best restaurants in the world.

Mimicking the breathtaking surroundings of their neighbouring market towns of Skipton and Grassington, The Angel is charming, countrified and chic. Chef Michael Wignall and his team prepare each dish that’s inspired by the seasons, blending classical with contemporary flavours.

They outranked over 40,000 restaurants, pastry shops and hotels that were considered with a score of 82.5 per cent.

Grantley Hall, Ripon

The luxurious hotel and spa offers the most decadent experience, including Michelin-starred Shaun Rankin which has propelled Grantley Hall to be awarded its first Michelin star in January 2020 and four AA rosettes in September 2023.

The award will lengthen their existing long list of achievements, among winning Best Hotel Spa UK by Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence 2025 earlier in the month.

Oozing in rich heritage and coupled with stunning formal gardens and grounds, Grantley Hall is an unrivalled place to create special memories. They scored 85 per cent.

Coming in top of the entire list, is another UK restaurant, L’enclume in the Lakes scoring an impressive 99.5 per cent.

We are incredibly proud to own some of the best restaurants in the world, including those recognised as the best restaurants in Yorkshire. It comes as no surprise to us among the finest restaurants on both a global and regional scale.
