La Liste ranks five Yorkshire restaurants as the best in the world​

Global grading system, La Liste, scores thousands of restaurants every year by looking at millions of reviews, guidebooks and publications. They’ve just released their top 1,000 restaurants in the World for 2026, and five Yorkshire venues have been named.

83 UK restaurants made the list of 1,000, making us among the strongest-performing countries on the list, despite operating in one of Europe’s toughest economic climates.

In the list, you’ll find a mix of Michelin-star restaurants, newcomers and familiar-faced chefs. Read the list below:

Best restaurants in the world: Grantley Hall, Ripon

The luxurious hotel and spa offers the most decadent experience with attention to detail everywhere you look. This includes their Shaun Rankin Michelin-starred restaurant. Oozing in rich heritage and coupled with stunning formal gardens and grounds, Grantley Hall is an unrivalled place to create special memories. They scored 82.5 percent amongst La Liste’s best hotels in the world, and we are definitely not surprised to see them make the list for another year.

Best restaurants in the world: The Black Swan, Oldstead

Run by Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks, The Black Swan is tucked in between the impressive Bland Abbey ruins and Kilburn White Horse – right in the heart of North Yorkshire.

Banks’ Michelin-starred, 4 AA Rosette restaurant is family run, and bursting with culture, tradition and modern gastronomic creativity. This is a fine dining landmark within Yorkshire, championing the best of the regions produce.

They also opened The Abbey Inn just up yonder from Ousted, as well as Roots York on Marygate in York. La Liste scored them 85 per cent.

Best restaurants in the world: Mýse, Hovingham

Quick to climb the ranks as one of the best restaurant in the world, never mind Yorkshire, is Mýse in Hovingham, near York.

Having been awarded a coveted Michelin star within the first seven months of opening, this is no doubt another great achievement to add to their growing list.

Their concept is farm-to-plate, with seasonally changing menus and a produce-driven style of cooking. They also forage, ferment, and infuse their own drinks.

Husband and wife Josh and Vicky Overington sold up their previous restaurants Le Cochon Aveugle and Cave du Cochon in York to totally devote themselves to Myse. Their efforts have paid off as they scored 86.5 per cent.

Best restaurants in the world: The Angel, Hetton

The Angel at Hetton in the Yorkshire Dales is another Michelin-starred restaurant to make the list of best restaurants in the world.

Mimicking the breathtaking surroundings of their neighbouring market towns of Skipton and Grassington, The Angel is charming, countrified and chic. Chef Michael Wignall and his team prepare each dish that’s inspired by the seasons, blending classical with contemporary flavours.

They outranked over 40,000 restaurants, with a score of a very impressive 88 percent, up from 82.5 percent last year.

Forge, Middleton Lodge Estate

Last but by no means least is Middleton Lodge Estate’s Forge, new to this years list. Also making it onto the Michelin Guide this year, its been an amazing time for Head Chef Jake Jones.

After opening in 2023, they’ve made a name for themselves with incredible flavours inspired by the estate. Each tasting menu has tells a story of the 200-acre landscape of Middleton Lodge.

Their courses are truly showstopping, each designed by head chef Jake Jones. They’ve scored a really impressive 77.5 percent.

We are incredibly proud to see Yorkshire taking up space amongst the best restaurants in the world. We’re in a really exciting time for our foodie scene and it comes as no surprise to us to be among the finest restaurants on both a global and regional scale.
