Pop art, period patterns and a Nordic ski lodge! Clementine’s Town House in York, a newly renovated hotel. Providing an indulgent experience in a place where Parisian chic meets Yorkshire Heritage.
No ordinary York hotel, Clementine’s is a city residence for the inspired; a place to relax and indulge. Formerly Marmadukes, Clementine’s has been fully refurbished from top to bottom, inside and out, with over £1M spent transforming the property into a luxury boutique hotel.
Located in a tranquil, residential street just a short stroll from the ancient City Centre Walls, Clementine’s occupies a historic townhouse once owned by a Victorian gentleman.
Retaining its historical past, many of the original architectural features of the building remain, with the front of the property seeing its traditional features restored to their former natural beauty. Features such as the tiled floor and stained glass windows can be seen, alongside a beautiful Victorian walled garden.
Blending classic art with modern-day mischief, Clementine’s Town House in York sees cheeky interior touches including vibrant art and a full blossom tree adorning the reception, complete with purple neon lights.
Clementine’s houses 28 rooms in total, following the renovation creating 6 new bedrooms. Each bedroom has been individually designed with a contemporary style that’s befitting of the historic building.

Working with leading interior designers, JMDA Ltd, who are known for their bold styles, the bedrooms see a mix of patterns and heavy fabrics throughout. The finished result showcases the Victorian and Yorkshire heritage of the property, expertly blending it with Parisian style and modern-day amenities.
Each bedroom is individually styled with bold colour and pattern choices with greys, greens and blues accented with mustards and reds throughout. Eclectic key pieces of artwork, period accessories and soft furnishing are found including pop-art artwork, neon lighting and elaborate floral displays, matched with period furniture to create an eccentric twist.
A highlight of Clementine’s Town House York is the Ski Lodge Suite, a Nordic-inspired ski lodge, complete with garden views and a terrace. Inside sees a mock log fire, bedroom and bathroom with heated tiled spa seat and large dual shower.
