The Devonshire Arms in Bolton Abbey launch the paw-fect staycation

The Devonshire Arms in Bolton Abbey launch the paw-fect staycation for dogs and their owners, with Devonshire Hotels ‘Canine Retreats’.
More so than ever, dogs are considered an important member of our family group, and dog-friendly holidays are more popular as a result. The Devonshire Hotels Group has launched its new ‘Canine Retreats’ programme to coincide with ‘National Pet Month’ (April 2022).
National Pet Month celebrates and raises awareness of responsible pet ownership during this month-long focus campaign, which also highlights the social and health benefits to be enjoyed from pet ownership.
This is closely aligned to The Devonshire Hotels Group’s dog-friendly ethos, where dogs are actively made welcome across their wide range of holiday accommodation. In fact, at The Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey, one of their two beautiful hotels in the Yorkshire Dales, there is even a themed ‘Dog Lounge’ in honour of this time-honoured bond.
The new ‘Canine Retreats’ programme is set to get tails wagging all over the country with countless treats on offer, to ensure that both owners and pets enjoy the most paw-fect of country staycations. The programme extends right across the Group, which has hotels and inns across the Chatsworth Estate in the Peak District and the Bolton Abbey Estate in the Yorkshire Dales.
Properties include The Devonshire Arms Hotel and Spa at Bolton Abbey and The Devonshire Fell in the Yorkshire Dales; and in Derbyshire, The Cavendish at Baslow and two historic inns, The Devonshire Arms at Beeley and The Devonshire Arms at Pilsley.
Top of the list for dogs of course, is the promise of doggy adventures across open countryside, exploring the inspiring National Parks and rural locations surroundings the properties. Dogs will also relish the warm welcome at reception, where they will have a fuss with our specially trained reception team, and perhaps a treat or two.
In their guest rooms discover the ‘Canine-friendly’ Welcome Pack, which includes dog treats, branded ‘Devonshire Dogs’ ball (for those countryside walks), poop bags, and towel for a good rub down afterwards.
Each property also has a Canine Retreats dog menu on offer, with a range of options, so that pet owners won’t be the only ones tucking into delicious meals during their stay. Dishes available for room service, include canine-suited twists on family favourites such as cottage pie, chicken and turkey casserole, or for a small snack, some cheese flavoured ‘dog-corn’. Pooches can even wash it down with a ‘Bottom Sniffer’ beer or a ‘Posh Pooch’ wine – it really is a dog’s life!
At each of the properties an area for dining has been created, so that dogs may dine with their owners, rather than being left alone in the guest room. Should there be an occasional need to leave well-behaved dogs alone at some point, then ‘dog in room’ swing tags will be a signal for housekeeping to let the proverbial ‘sleeping dogs lie’.
Pampered pooches will be delighted by the optional extra of their very own hand-made four-poster bed, a perfect fit for your own ‘Duke’ or ‘Princess’.
Richard Palmer, Managing Director of The Devonshire Hotels and Restaurants Group, commented,
“We’ve always been dog friendly at our hotels and boltholes, and now we’re taking this proposition even further, to give both owners and pets alike the very warmest of welcomes, and the very best of experiences when they choose to stay with us at one of our wide range of properties, all set in magnificent countryside, which both dogs and owners alike will love exploring.”
Canine Retreats available at from 1st April 2022
Costs are simply added to the guests’ stay – £15 per dog per night, for hotel and inns, and an additional £20 to include the optional four-poster bed hire, per dog per night.
Cottages are £35 per dog per stay, irrespective of length of stay (Max number of well-behaved dogs per stay is two, in both hotel and cottage accommodation).
