Forge at Middleton Lodge launches Six-Course Tasting Menu

Choose between the six or ten-course tasting experiences at Forge at Middleton Lodge Estate. 

Located near Richmond, North Yorkshire, Middleton Lodge is offering a new tasting experience at Forge, its fine dining restaurant. Forge will continue to offer its original ten-course tasting with wine pairing but has now launched a six-course experience, giving diners the choice between shorter or longer experiences.

Middleton Lodge has two restaurants, the Coach House modern kitchen and bar and Forge. Both have an estate-to-plate, sustainable ethos, but differ in their offering. Unlike the relaxed, all-day Coach House, Forge at Middleton Lodge Estate is open Thursday to Sunday evenings for reservations only, it is more intimate and formal, serving delicate tasting experiences.

Forge is situated in the estate’s Old Forge which has been restored and redesigned by creative director Rebecca Tappin. There’s a roaring fire and exposed stone walls in this atmospheric space.

Forge at Middleton Lodge review | A fine dining experience like no other

After reopening in February 2023, Forge at Middleton Lodge Estate has quickly become a go-to destination for innovative tasting experiences. Head Chef Jake Jones has brought knowledge from noted Michelin-recognised, farm-to-fork restaurants in the North to work with the estate’s 200-acre landscape, two-acre walled gardens, woodlands and the community of surrounding local farmers to create an innovative and sense-evoking tasting experience that is created sustainably, with a commitment to conserving the landscape.

You’ll find more unusual, foraged ingredients on the menus at Forge at Middleton Lodge Estate as Jake not only works with head gardener Andrew Webb but also with local foragers to discover the ingredients growing naturally on the estate, in the woodlands, hedgerows and farm fields. Jake also works with the best local producers, farmers and fishmongers to source those ingredients that cannot be produced onsite. The old farmer’s almanac has a strong influence on the tasting experiences at Forge.

Middleton Lodge Forge New Tasting Menu

Estate owner and managing director James Allison has spent the past 20 years restoring Middleton Lodge, the 200-acre Georgian estate where he grew up. In each restoration project sustainability has played a major role. He has invested in sustainable practices throughout, including an onsite biodigester for all food waste, biomass heating, electric kitchens and electric car-charging units. As many ingredients as possible for the restaurants are grown onsite to reduce food miles.
