Gail’s to open first Yorkshire bakery in Harrogate

GAIL’s, the popular bakery known for handmade bread, pastries, cakes and coffee, is heading to Yorkshire, with its first regional bakery set to open in Harrogate this November.

The new GAIL’s will take over the former Russell & Bromley shop on James Street, bringing its neighbourhood bakery concept to the heart of Harrogate just in time for the festive season.

The bakery chain first opened on London’s Hampstead High Street in 2005 and has since grown to more than 150 locations across the UK. Now, GAIL’s is making its long-awaited Yorkshire debut, and Harrogate has been chosen as its first home in the region.

If you’re already familiar with GAIL’s, you’ll know what to expect: a counter piled high with freshly baked treats, from almond croissants and sourdough loaves to hearty sandwiches, cakes and its famous crustless pies. There’s also a drinks menu of classic coffees, matcha and iced lattes for those after a little pick-me-up.

We can already see this one becoming a popular stop for a coffee and pastry after a wander around Harrogate, or a well-deserved lunch break while exploring the town’s shops.

GAIL’s places a focus on quality ingredients and works closely with its suppliers, while also aiming to keep food waste to a minimum. Surplus food from its bakeries is set aside and donated to charities within local neighbourhoods.
