Beloved Get Baked in Headingley, home of famous Bertha cake to close

Get Baked, the viral cake shop sitting in the student suburb of Headingley, Leeds, is set to close on the 28th February 2026.

The popular site opened five years ago, serving indulgent cookies, pies and most famously, their world-famous Bertha cake.

Get Baked Founder Rich Myers announced the shock closure of their site on Tuesday, 13th January via Instagram.

“These are words I never envisaged myself writing, but I must share with you all the news that at the end of February, our Headingley store will be closing.”

Mr Myers explained that rising rent costs meant continuing to run the site would no longer be feasible, although he thanked customers for their loyalty and support in Leeds over the last five years.

Here at Yorkshire Food Guide, we’re gutted to see this local spot close.

We had to give Bertha a try ourselves while we have the chance.

Get Baked twenty-four-layer chocolate cake

The decadent twenty-four-layer chocolate cake is the ultimate sweet treat, with single-origin Colombian milk and dark chocolate ganache.

Each slice easily serves four people, it’s a rich cake that will satisfy your sweet tooth.

Luckily, if you don’t have the chance to visit before this spot closes, you can always order a hefty slice of Bertha online.

Also, GetBaked’s Manchester site will remain open.
