High Welfare Meat delivered to your door from new Yorkshire Producer

World of meat, Wetherby 100% British meat delivered to your door
More and more people are becoming concerned and want to know about the tractability of the meat they are eating and the welfare of the animals. Typing ‘supermarket meat’ into google can make you feel a little queasy with stories about harmful bacteria and supermarkets importing chicken from Eastern Europe and meat from all over the place, or you may feel disgusted due to the poor animal welfare stories.
It’s not only the importing of meat from countries that do not impose welfare standards that is a concern, our UK abattoirs are not much better. The Guardian recently reported: 4,000 major breaches of animal welfare laws at UK abattoirs in two years according to data released by the government’s food watchdog (full article).

I’m not going to share the horror stories or try to turn you into a vegan. Instead we suggest being more conscious about the meat that we are consuming. You have heard of Graze Boxes, Hello Fresh recipe boxes and others but why not also consider the idea of meat boxes delivered straight to your door.
A fantastic team up between new Yorkshire producer World of Meat and Sykes House Farm has now launched. Ian Roberton Managing Director of World of Meat said: “You really cannot trace where your meat is coming from in supermarkets, the quality is poor, it can be imported from aboard, display confusing messages of being ‘butchered in Britain’ but not from British farms and also frozen before being put on the supermarket shelves. We have teamed up with the multi-award winning Sykes House Farm to create a high quality product where you can ensure tractability and animal welfare, coming straight from the farm to your door”.

Sykes House Farm is a 3rd generation family business based in Wetherby and has established itself as one of the best known catering butchers in the UK. Their first priority is quality, they can provide traceability due to their deep and long-standing involvement in the whole supply chain, from the producer through to the plate. They believe that the best beef is to be found within Yorkshire, naturally raised, all with full traceability right back to conception. All of their lamb is reared in Yorkshire and sourced mainly from Yorkshire. As former pig breeders they specialise in sourcing only the finest Pork the region has to offer; Yorkshire Outdoor. Outdoor reared and operating to RSPCA Freedom Foods standard; piglets are born outdoors and reared on straw, they have lots of space in which to naturally roam and are healthy and as happy as pigs can be. Their Free Range chickens are bred and reared on the Yorkshire Wolds, having access to the outdoors with freedom to come and go as they please. All this with a good diet and their butchers knowledge of aging and hanging processes, enhances the flavor and quality you receive.

Upon meeting Ian at World of Meat HQ we had a BBQ in November to sample the delicious meat on offer. It was well worth the cold, after a lunch of filet steak, 28 day dry aged ribeye, and three types of gourmet sausages including parmesan and pancetta, their spicy red dragon and traditional pork, I could really taste the quality of their products. Juicy tender steaks that melt in mouth and no nasty sausages with fresh ingredients that you could see for yourself. We will definitely be changing our supermarket shopping habits and very much look forward to ordering our Christmas Hamper!
