Renowned Jöro in Sheffield gets rave reviews for their new venue

Jöro pronounced ‘Yoro’ simply translates to “Earth” in old Norse language. The concept of this new restaurant is ‘a meal made of many small plates’ has expanded from a shipping container in Sheffield’s Kelham Island, to a larger restaurant space in the city’s Oughtibridge paper Mill.

Owner and chef Luke French and partner Stacey Sherwood-French’s new restaurant, dubbed Jöro 2.Ö, will stay true to the duo’s approach of applying modern techniques to local ingredients while encompassing a touch of Nordic and Japanese style.

However, their new space in the suburbs of Sheffield will elevate their current offering, homing a state-of-the-art kitchen, two bars, an all-day dining experience, outdoor BBQ kitchen concept and seven boutique rooms – just to name a few!
Jöro 2.Ö will also serve signature tasting menus alongside their terrace menu, showcasing live-fire cooking. Using birch wood and charcoal, the talented team of chefs will conjure up seafood and meat delicacies, as well as the SHÖP by JÖRO deli that will offer speciality ingredients.

In the Sheffield countryside on the edge of the Peak District, besides the River Don, the new venue opened its doors on Wednesday 4th December.
It has had nothing but rave reviews since from Michelin-starred chefs and food critics alike. William Sitwell noted it as “one of the most intoxicatingly pleasurable eating houses that I’ve ever encountered”.
It is recommended in the Michelin Guide and boasts three AA Rosettes, awarded only to the most ‘outstanding’ restaurants but is yet to be donned a Michelin Star.

Their current Krynkl venue will be replaced but will remain true to JÖRO’s identity according to Luke and Stacey. Luke said he, Stacey and the rest of the team “have created something truly special and can’t wait for you all to come and share it with us in somewhere we can finally say with from the bottom of our hearts we are proud to call the home of JÖRO.”

While the restaurant opened earlier on in the month, many of their features and facilities are not set to officially open until the new year.
Sheffield continues to lead the way as one of Yorkshire’s leading city’s for the best restaurant and bar destinations, with their latest announcement of a Euro-inspired beer hall getting travellers and locals excited.
