New Chef Mark Bennett to head up The Majestic Hotel in Harrogate

Built-in 1900, The Majestic Hotel in Harrogate is a palatial and stately Victorian property that sits in the heart of the beautiful spa town. Located within the hotel lies Carters Champagne Bar & Grill, a restaurant tastefully decorated with an Edwardian style and unmistakable elegance, which serves up an à la carte menu boasting seasonal local produce.

Majestic Hotel Harrogate - new chef

Majestic Hotel’s well-loved Bar & Grill has recently introduced new chef Mark Bennett, who hopes to bring his culinary expertise to Carters. We recently caught up with Mark to find out more about him, and his plans as Carters Champagne Bar & Grill’s new head chef.

What kind of food do you serve?

Harrogate has a fantastic food supply network from locations including the Yorkshire Dales and the seaside towns on the East Coast. The Majestic Hotel in Harrogate boasts an à la carte menu sourced from local seasonal produce. From rare breed meat, aged in our very own ageing cabinet and then cooked in our Josper Grill, to Pepper Smoked Mackerel and hearty Mac ‘n’ Cheese all paired with carefully selected champagnes, wines, and cocktails.

Majestic Hotel & Spa Harrogate - Carters Food

What is your favourite winter warming dish?

Coming from the splendid East coast town of Scarborough, I love nothing more than good quality seafood. A rich Fisherman’s pie with a glass of lightly oaked Chardonnay is my idea of heaven. Watch this space, we have a new dish coming soon of Pan Seared Sea Trout with Vermicelli served with King Prawns, Mussels, and a Lemon Grass Consommé!

Why is seafood your favourite?

Cooking and eating seafood always reminds me of home life by the coast. Taking the fishing boats out early in the morning, to get the best catch, was where my passion for food began!

What is your inspiration?

My parents, who are responsible for my strong work ethic. My work colleagues, who work tirelessly as a team to deliver excellent dishes in the heart of Harrogate!
