Malton Street Food Sundays
Malton’s first ‘Street Food Sunday’ last weekend was hailed a success by the organisers, the Malton Community Interest Company (Malton CIC). The event, which transformed the Market Place into a relaxed family meeting and eating place, saw children cartwheeling on the (artificial) grass while parents lined up for the array of tasty treats on offer. Despite the odd shower, people enjoy the music and foodie offerings from Tikks Thai Kitchen, The Yorkshire Pudding Pie Co, Wood Fire Dine Pizza and the Food 2 Remember Street Food BBQ.

Sunday’s event also allowed the Malton CIC to say thank you to the volunteer team of over 60 people who helped make the annual Food Lovers Festival such a success. Emma Brooksbank, a festival volunteer and director of the Malton Community Interest Company, said she felt proud to do her bit at the festival. She praised the generosity of the Naylor-Leyland family and the work of the Fitzwilliam Malton Estate, listing the improvements which have happened in the town over the last few years.

Malton Street Food Sundays is a new initiative from the Malton CIC, the organisation which provides free parking in the town centre and runs the annual Food Lovers Festival, the Harvest Food Festival and the Malton Monthly Food Markets. Held on the first Sunday in June, July and August, Malton’s newly created al fresco dining area becomes a place to enjoy Sunday lunch from a changing lineup of some of the best street food vendors available.
