The biggest new restaurant openings coming to Yorkshire
//= get_the_date( 'dS F Y' ); ?>
We loved and we’ve lost many hot spots in the Yorkshire restaurant scene last year, but 2025 is looking to be the year of new restaurant openings.
We’ve pulled together the most exciting new openings coming to Yorkshire soon, from matcha to fine dining, it is looking like an exciting time for Yorkshire’s foodie scene.
Biggest new openings coming to Yorkshire

Once Upon a Vine to join Headingley’s foodie scene, Leeds
Once Upon a Vine is a popular independent wine shop/bar in Horsforth, Wetherby and soon to be Headingley!
With a fantastic selection of wines, sharing plates and nibbles to snack on, we have no doubt this will be a welcome addition to Leeds.
Lamentation, Boston Spa
Award-winning and Michelin-star-earning celebrity chef, Michael O’Hare, is making his mark back in Leeds. After the closure of The Man Behind The Curtain and Psycho Sandbar, he’s taken a year’s hiatus and come back with something very exciting.
Early next year, the intimate dining concept seating only 16 covers, Lamentation, will be opening in the affluent suburb of Boston Spa. If Michael’s previous work is anything to go by, this will be a showstopping new restaurant opening.
Gus Wellness, icebaths, sauna and cafe to open in Sheffield
Coming soon to warm us up in these winter months is Gus Wellness. Joining the increasingly popular Cambridge Street, this new spot is soon to leave you feeling rejuvenated – with ice baths, saunas and fantastic coffees.
With Scandi vibes and a cosy feel, we’re looking forward to giving this spot a try this December.
The Savvy Baker, Trinity Leeds
Boasting an impressive brownie empire and an army of loyal fans, The Savvy Baker has expanded in leaps and bounds since they began in lockdown.
Their next venture will feature a matcha bar along with their famed brownies and cookies in a brand new bakery located in Trinity Leeds.

Wet, York
This is one of our most exciting new restaurant openings in York: WET, a bar featuring rotating seasonal small plates, batch cocktails, and a great selection of quality natural wines.
It opened in late October, and we can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store! WET is open on Micklegate – one of our favourite foodie streets to visit when in York.

Ambiente, Beverly
Paellas, platters and Spanish-inspired tapas, Ambiente is a favourite for tapas in Leeds, Hull and York. Now they’re bringing Spanish flavours to the market town of Beverly.
You can expect all the dishes that have given these guys a name for great tapas in a 120-cover restaurant opening soon – keep your eyes peeled for more information!
The New Inn Eccup
The New Inn Eccup is getting a well-earned makeover. After being taken over by the Myrtle Tavern, one of Meanwood’s best pubs, they’re due to reopen on Wednesday 12th November.
It’s the perfect time of year for a new country pub to pop back onto the scene, and we can’t wait to pay a visit, enjoy the open fires and try some local beer.
Hatsu, York
Sleek, chic and fresh on the scene is Hatsu, York’s newest Japanese restaurant. Located on Petergate in a stunning Grade II listed building, they’ve revamped the interior to a contemporary Japanese haven.
Things are still very much under wraps, but we’re expecting Hatsu to open within the next few weeks.
Johnny’s Bar and Parlour
Harrogate is getting a brand new fine dining restaurant and bar in the coming weeks. Johnny’s Bar and Parlour will be launched by chef-founder Jemima Harrison.
The site will be on Montpellier Parade and will be offering a fine dining menu, which is yet to be revealed – from the looks of their soft launch, this place is going to be a new opening in Yorkshire that you can’t miss.

Trattoria Maria, Sheffield
From the creators of Bench and Bench la Cave, Jack Wakelin and Tom Aronica are opening Trattoria Maria, their version of traditional Italian dining, inspired by their Sicilian roots and childhood summers spent enjoying Italian cuisine.
Trattoria Maria will be on Wellington Street, in the former Henry’s Wine Bar. You can expect their classic, open, sociable style of interior, but with typical Italian hospitality and warmth.
They’ll be sticking to using seasonal British produce where possible for their menu, which will host all the Italian classics. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on their opening.
Forbici, Sheffield
A planning application has been submitted for a city centre spot in Sheffield to be taken over by trendy Manchester pizzeria, Forbici.
Owned by Individual Restaurants, they are famous for their cutting approach to pizza, both literally and figuratively, using scissors to cut their pizza in true Napolitan style.

Brew York to transform historic East Yorkshire market hall
Brew York, which operates taprooms and bars across Yorkshire, announced plans for a new food hall and event facility last month in the former Goole Market Hall.
Known for its amazing craft beer selection, Brew York is also hoping to provide a new space for creative businesses to host commercial and community events. For any craft beer lovers out there, this is definitely a new restaurant opening to look out for this year.
Tori Nori, Leeds
Expected this November, from the talented team behind Fern Modern Sushi, is Tori Nori. The Japanese grill will feature robata-style dining, a traditional method of cooking over hot charcoal.
Robata style dining, authentic flavours, grilled skewers, affordable and delicious. This new restaurant opening is going to be amazing for Leeds’ Japanese cuisine lovers!

Blank Street Coffee has arrived in Leeds
Coffee hotspot Blank Street has finally made its way to Leeds’ City Centre, and we’ll have to give it a try. This new opening is said to be the largest Black Street in the UK.
Go for their viral blueberry matcha, or simple iced americano. Paired with a fresh pastry or sweet treat, this trendy coffee shop is soon to become part of your daily commute.
Devonshire Arms has welcomed a brand new menu to their Garden Room restaurant – wine and charcuterie. What could be better than tasting fine wines, with fantastic local produce?
With crumbly cheeses supplied by the beloved Courtyard Dairy and cured meats to pair with your glass of red, this new opening is just too tempting.
Rakku, Whitecloth Hall, Leeds
East Asian flavours from the team behind Ox Club, Galleria & House of Fu have joined White Cloth Hall this October. If their other venues are anything to go by, this new restaurant vendor will be a showstopper.
Expect vibrant rice dishes, noodle stir-fries and authentic flavours, all in the stunning setting of Whitecloth Hall, bustling with atmosphere and great vibes.
House of Koko, Leeds
Already booming at the other side of town with two venues in Chapel Allerton and Oakwood, House of Koko has expanded again.
Big brunch energy, excellent coffee and a passion for people has arrived on Central Road in Leeds City Centre this Autumn. Get yourself down there and see what all the fuss is about!

Black Wheat Club, York
Nestled on the cobbled street of Fossgate, Black Wheat Club opened its doors to welcome hungry brunch-goers early this year. Their menu includes a tempting salt beef poached eggs, or a hot bowl of porridge topped with torched brown butter & rum custard.
As well as fresh coffee and signature breakfast dishes to choose from, this spot also functions as a small-batch bakery – so you can take a loaf home with you.
You’ll have to get in quick; this spot has just made it to the Good Food Guide’s Top 100 Best Local Restaurants.
Champagne + Fromage
Champagne + Fromage has come to Harrogate, and we are really excited! Since their 2011 opening in Covent Garden, they’ve expanded to Bath, the Isle of White, Chester and now Harrogate.
Try their cheese fondue – a blend of Emmental, Comte and Gruyere, garlic and white wine, partnered with a champagne from one of their trusted independent champagne houses. We cannot wait to pop a cork and enjoy their new restaurant in Harrogate.
