This September will see a national celebration of some of the best street food traders across the UK when they come together for the launch of the StrEat Food and Family Fun Festival at Newby Hall and Gardens, Ripon from 22-24 September 2017. This follows the successful first event in Valley Gardens, Harrogate, but with so much more, including headline acts to be announced in June onwards.
The destination event will take festival goers and foodie fans on a gastronomic global journey of discovery, combined with a quirky and diverse mix of fun, film, current acts and bands on the main stage, as well as eclectic entertainment and general mayhem for the whole family to experience – all set in the backdrop of the beautiful Newby Hall grounds in North Yorkshire.
All manner of vehicles from horseboxes and AirStreams to Citreon H Vans and Campervans will serve a scrummy selection of street food from some 60 traders from around the world. Visitors can expect an array of colourful traders with character, who will challenge the senses with a fusion of smells, tastes, sounds and food firsts – there’s something for every appetite. An Artisan Market will also feature some 30 producers with handpicked products for visitors to try, buy and take home.
Europe’s largest outdoor cinema will keep movie buffs entertained with iconic and classic films, including a nostalgic 80’s night. The film feast includes Back to the Future, The Lost Boys, The Matrix, The Jungle Book and Jurassic Park with some surprise dino-tastic guests dropping by the main stage, so hold onto your popcorn! Fancy watching Jurassic from a jacuzzi or Jungle Book with bubbles! Groups of 8 film fans can even book one of 4 Luxury Hot Tub for an indulgent viewing experience. From good grub to glamping, camping to craft beer, teepees and cocktail bars, as well as movies to music, bath tubs to bushcraft and much more – festival goers will experience an exciting, energetic and enthusiastic menu of food, fun and entertainment throughout this 3-day event.
Kick back in a vintage deckchair or beanbag and enjoy music from the main stage with a top celebrity DJ and current headline performers and bands from UK and Europe. Swoolish will fly in from Holland to bring his vintage living room set and vinyls to Yorkshire. Tunes will create a smooth and sultry jazz club atmosphere with an eclectic mix of boogaloo, calypso, boogie woogie, mambo and blue grass.
Festival goers at the Newby Hall Street Food Festival, looking for some chill time and a fancy foot rub can relax in their quirky Water Spa where their lazy chairs ‘wheely’ look like wheelbarrows. Put your feet up in the wheelbarrow loungers and let the mobile kettle cart pamper your pins with a warm footbath. The Naughty Tea Ladies, will be brewing up a storm around the Gardens on their specially adapted tricycle causing mischief and mayhem. They interact with the children, photo bomb everyone, sing at the top of their very poor singing voices, kiss you on the cheek when you least expect it and steal your picnic!
A Wandering Band will take visitors on a magic carpet ride for an amazing musical trip crossing many corners of the earth. They’ve been astounding audiences throughout Europe for many years with their anarchic medley of traditional European and world musical styles of all eras, throwing them together to form an infectious unique brand of music that never fails to have audiences jumping around in a frenzy!
The StrEaters and Vintage Lawn Society at Newby Hall Street Food Festival will be on hand to entertain and amaze all day, the children can enjoy bushcraft survival skills and den building in the woods and can even cook up their own bug pancakes!
StrEat’s Glamping Village features hot tubs to book for private parties followed by a campfire chill-out…Beautiful Bell Tents are available for festival goers to book in the VIP village.
