North Leeds Food Festival Returns to Roundhay Park

The North Leeds Food Festival returns to Roundhay Park on 22nd – 23rd June 2019, showcasing a huge selection of the region’s best talent in food, drink and performing arts.

Expect a range of mouthwatering Street Food, a Giant Artisan Produce and Crafts Markets, Live Music and Entertainment, Kids Activities and Wellbeing Talks. Organisers have also promised a new Live Chefs Demo area for 2019.

“We’ve been thinking about introducing this for a few years now, but we now feel that the timing is right. We’ve always been focused on local talent with every aspect of the festival. The Chef’s Demo area will be no different, with the region’s top chefs rotating over the weekend. We’ve teamed up with Leeds Cookery School to put together what will be an incredible addition to the festival.” – Michael Johnston, North Leeds Food Festival Director.

Chef Demo Line-Up at North Leeds Food Festival

The area will feature Yorkshire favorite Josh Whitehead, of the Harewood Food & Drink Project, who appeared on TV alongside at Christmas time, with Mary Berry while filming on the Harewood Estate.

Stephanie Moon, Head Chef at Rudding Park & Chief Consultant for All Things Food will feature for a demo on Sunday 23rd June.

Viewers will also be treated to shows from the Foundry’s Matt Healy and Jamie Clinton of Shear’s Yard on Saturday & Sunday respectively.

Michelin-recommended Tharavadu will host a demo focusing on Indian food from Kerala. Further demo’s on Sunday include Luke Downing, of Dough in the City and Jono Hawthorne of Leeds favorite – Feed.

Demo area co-hosts, Leeds Cookery School will also feature twice over the weekend, with Simon Chapellow & Scott Macey.

International cuisines lie at the center of the festival, now in its fourth year, and this year is no different, with a whole range of street food traders taking part. Vegan traders will once again be in attendance in-line with increased demand.

To drink there will be 8 pop up bars including a Specialty Wine Bar, a Prosecco Bar, local Gin Bars and an independent Cider Bar. For Beer enthusiasts, the Soldiers Ale House will offer over 22 local beers and ales with Ilkley Brewery.

“ It’s been fantastic to see the festival evolve over the past four years, and the support from the local residents and attendees has been superb. It makes a huge difference. We aim to keep adding major features to the festival each year. It’s exciting looking forward to future years!” Michael Johnston, North Leeds Food Festival Director.

Comedy, Entertainment, and Street Performances can be expected throughout the weekend. Collaborating with Leeds Arts University students, the festival will feature exclusive displays, inspired by food and local history.

The festival will once again run additional activities throughout the festival to raise funds and awareness for Leeds-based charity Leeds Mind, having raised over £9,400 over the past three years.
