The Yorkshire Winners at 2024’s Top 50 Gastropub Awards
//= get_the_date( 'dS F Y' ); ?>The annual Estrella Damn Top 50 Gastropubs and Top 100 Gastropubs Awards for 2024 have been announced, with ten Yorkshire restaurants scooping the prestigious spots.
List of Yorkshire restaurants featured in Top 50 Gastropubs
Number 8 | The Star Inn, Harome
Michelin-starred chef Andrew Pern’s Star Inn at Harome was the highest placed, claiming number 8 in the Top 50 Gastropubs. The renowned restaurant with rooms suffered a devastating fire in November 2021 but has come back with a bang, remaining a favourite amongst locals and visitors of Yorkshire. Andrew Pern has also won the ‘Special Recognition’ award, for bouncing back after the disaster.
Number 13 | The Angel at Hetton
The Angel at Hetton came in at number 13 in the Top 50 Gastropubs. Since Michelin-starred chef Michael Wignall took over the much-loved North Yorkshire restaurant with rooms they have won an impressive raft of industry-leading awards. Found in a beautiful village in the Yorkshire Dales, The Angel at Hetton is warm, charming and renowned for its delicious dining, boutique rooms and superb hospitality.
Number 17 | Shibden Mill Inn, Halifax
At number 17 in the Top 50 Gastropubs, Halifax’s Shibden Mill Inn showcases the finest local and seasonal ingredients on their A La carte, tasting and Sunday lunch menus. Head Chef Will Webster and the team have secured their spot since 2020 and are sure to receive many more awards and accolades to come.
Number 28 | The Pipe & Glass, South Dalton
East Yorkshire’s finest Michelin-starred gastropub with rooms, The Pipe and Glass came in at 28. James and Kate Mackenzie’s Yorkshire pub offers hearty and moreish dishes, with ingredients from their garden to your plate.
Number 38 | The Abbey Inn, Byland
Coming in at number 38 in the Top 50 gastropubs is The Abbey Inn Byland, owned by Michelin-star chef Tommy Banks. This beautiful Grade II listed country pub opened its doors in spring 2023, focusing on sustainability and hyper-local produce to create a delicious seasonal menu.
Number 39 | The Black Bull, Sedbergh
Located in the charming town of Sedbergh, The Black Bull highlights the best seasonal and local produce with hints of Asian fusion. The former 17th-century coaching inn was transformed into an 18-bedroom hotel with wood-burning fireplaces, classic pub features and dog-friendly accommodation. The Black Bull Inn, Sedbergh is featured at 39th place in the Top 50 Gastropubs.
