Elder has drawn upon years of experience to bring their concept of ‘quirky British’ dining to Halifax. Recommended by The Good Food Guide – Elder offers an informal drinking and dining experience - serving up a daytime lunch/ brunch menu and more formal evening menu 6 days a week.

Owner and Head Chef Justin Thomas started out his culinary career in kitchens of acclaimed restaurants in London and Leeds. From his Head Chef position at West Yorkshire’s multi-award-winning French restaurant Kendall’s Bistro, and then onto Head of Food Development at the critically acclaimed Friends of Ham before establishing Elder in 2017.

You can find the independent restaurant underneath the arches in the beautiful Grade I listed Piece Hall – with an open plan kitchen facing an intimate 35-seater restaurant overlooking the plaza and outdoor seating to soak up the impressive surroundings in the warmer months.

Their rotating menus are based on fantastic seasonal British ingredients from great producers – working with local suppliers as a key ethos of what they do. Offerings on the Brunch menu include Confit Duck on Potato Rosti, Fried Egg & Chilli Ketchup whilst an evening offering of small plates presents dishes such as Potato Gnocchi, British Nduja & Old Winchester Cheese. The food offering is matched with a great wine list, craft beers & locally roasted coffee.
