A Taste of Trinity Kitchen’s Summer Street Food Lineup
Making big impressions with its excellent take on street food, Trinity Kitchen in Leeds continues to bring in the best dining experiences around. For the next eight weeks you will not leave disappointed. We visited last week to sample their latest line up of super food heavyweights.
By a welcomed coincidence, Asian food seems to be taking the floor at Trinity Kitchen this time round. The delicate decoration of tea lights, bold colours on display, bowls filled with chillies, bunches of coriander and that all too familiar wheeled tuk tuk make Bangwok feel you are only one step away from the mighty Kao San Road in Bangkok itself. The menu is limited in choice but this is something to be expected anyway from street food; focus being on quality and not quantity. After some all be it small deliberation, we settled for chargrilled chicken. BBQ style and served with fried rice, it proved to be plentiful and tasty. In true fashion, cold Singha and Chang were on order to accompany our meal. Check Thailand beer if you are left unsure.
Next we headed to Indian street food, Chaat Cart. We ordered a Kati Roll (Kolkata Kebab). The chicken marinated hours before was served on top of warm flat bread, rainbow slaw, a delicious green chutney, and finally chilli and garlic sauce. All cooked fresh and sprinkled with coriander, we left food happy. Serving up two further dishes, Chaat Cart offer a South Indian Chicken Curry and a nod to vegetarians with a Dhal and Rice.
As if we were not done already, American themed What The Truck handed us their Fish Finger Sub. Think lightly fried fish, coleslaw, garlic aioli, sirachi sauce and spring onions and you might just be somewhere close to food heaven. Truffle fries as accompaniment, we were seriously rethinking leaving fries unseasoned ever again. Parmesan and aioli made a great pairing.
By this point, food coma had firmly set in. It needed something special to turn our heads and give us appetite to lift spoons and chow down. Thai Khrim turned our heads. Spoons were lifted. This place was indeed special. Making the hand rolled ice cream was a spectacle, people queued and took pictures. Fascination had set in. We were handed peanut butter, and strawberries and cream flavoured ice creams. Suggesting these are topped with sprinkles doesn’t really do them any justice. At this point, we declared food game over. Thai Khrim was simply delicious.
Finally, check out Caribbean styled Jenny’s Jerk Chicken. They are doing a great job and offer a bit of an alternative with their take on goat curries and BBQ chicken.
With that, we said our goodbyes and rolled our way home. For the next eight weeks catch each of these guys serving it up, they have a busy summer ahead. Find out more about the current Trinity Kitchen Line Up.
