Good Food Guide names eight Yorkshire places in UK’s Top Italian Restaurants
The prestigious Good Food Guide named eight restaurants in Yorkshire as having some of the greatest Italian cuisine in the United Kingdom.
The excellent Food Guide, which rates restaurants as “good,” “very good,” or “exceptional,” has revealed its top recommendations for Italian cuisine in the UK.
Established in 1951, the Good Food Guide comprises a group of thirty inspectors that evaluate eateries nationwide based on recommendations and tips from readers. These may include a new chef who shows promise in the area or a remote country pub that has improved.
Only eight Yorkshire restaurants made the list of the best 54 Italian restaurants in the UK for 2024, which was revealed by the membership platform.
The first feature on the list is the rustic yet beautiful, Devour at the Dyehouse in Holmfirth. Receiving an overall rating of “Good”, the Good Food Guide said: “On a pleasant spring or autumn day, it’s tempting to eat lunch outside, but the stylishly converted dyehouse – iron beams, stone floors and lofted roof – has considerable charm too.”
Included in the Guide, Stuzzi Leeds in the Grand Arcade received a “good” rating in each of the four inspection categories: “uniqueness,” “deliciousness,” “warmth,” and “strength of recommendation.”
Inspectors from the Good Food Guide described the restaurant as: “Against a backdrop of concrete floors, contemporary bentwood chairs, rustic arches and shelves of wine bottles, visitors can dip into a roster of Italian small plates in the modern idiom.”
Amongst a whole host of top contenders for the best Italian cuisine in the UK, other restaurant features in the Good Food Guide’s list include one of Sheffield’s best restaurants, Domo, Kitchen 91 in Hebden Bridge, Lanterna in Scarborough, Pizza West in Whitby, the popular family restaurant Salvo’s in Headingley and Zucco in Meanwood. All serving up the finest Italian cuisine in the most beautiful settings.
With so many options to choose from, take your pick of the featured Yorkshire restaurants and get ready to taste some authentic flavours, homemade pasta and plenty of aperitivos.
