The Inn at South Stainley – Copgrove Circular
Experience this 13.4-km circular trail near Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3 and a half hours to complete. This trail is great for running or walking, and it’s unlikely you’ll encounter many other people while exploring – perfect!
And for that post-walk feed, The Inn at South Stainley has got it all – a cosy, comfortable atmosphere with an indoor fire for the colder days and outdoor dining for the warmer ones.
Location: Ripon Rd, Harrogate, HG3 3ND
The Aysgarth Falls Hotel – Aysgarth Falls Walk
Surrounded by scenic walking routes and waterfalls that have been attracting visitors for over 200 years, The Aysgarth Falls Hotel is one of the best pubs with walks in Yorkshire, so add it as a stop to end a busy day of exploring. The menu at Palmers’ restaurant ensures you won’t be going hungry.
Expect classic British dishes, with a seasonal twist. Desserts include ‘Spiced chocolate moose, with Pear and Ginger Ice Cream’, or a traditional ‘Sticky Toffee Pudding’- delicious.

Shibden Mill, Halifax – Shibden Valley Walk
Nestled in Shibden Valley, Halifax, Shibden Mill was originally a corn and spinning mill, before being converted into a country pub in 1890. Today, guests go for Michelin-recommended food and drinks by the crackling fire.
The menu changes frequently with the seasons, with the Chefs crafting each dish using fresh produce.
Also, there are tonnes of walks to choose from in the nearby area, suiting beginners or the more eager hikers among us.
Location: Shibden Mill Inn, Shibden Mill Fold, Halifax, HX3 7UL
Lister Arms, Yorkshire Dales – Malham Cove walk
The Lister Arms is a stylish boutique hotel in Malham, the Yorkshire Dales. Local walks include the Gordale Scar, the sight of which has inspired artists and writers like Wordsworth. Janet’s Foss is also nearby, a magical waterfall nestled in the Dales.
However, for us at Yorkshire Food Guide, the real winner is the Lister Arms’ home-cooked food and extensive wine list, with plenty of vegan options too.
We suggest booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
Location: Malham, Skipton, BD23 4DB
The Fountaine Inn, Linton – Linton circular
A favourite when it comes to pup-friendly pubs with walks, The Fountaine Inn has plenty of walks right on their doorstep – or even explore Stump Cross Caverns for an underground adventure. This is the place for great, non-nonsense pub food in an informal setting.
British classics are at the heart of the menu, with ‘Lamb Hotpot’, ‘Steak’ and of course ‘Fish and Chips’ bound to satisfy.
If you fancy a longer stay or a real walking weekend, they have cosy and affordable rooms on offer too.

Cod and Lobster, Staithes – Runswick Bay
Staithes, a sleepier coastal town compared to the bustle of Whitby and Scarbrough, is home to the Cod and Lobster. A real gem when it comes to Yorkshire pubs with walks, with seashore views, it’s a welcome sight after a windy coastal walk from Runswick Bay.
We’d go for the fresh seafood on offer, ‘Pan fried seabass’ or of course the infamous ‘Cod and Lobster’ itself.
They do get busy, especially during the school holidays – so plan ahead.
