Biggest openings of 2025
//= get_the_date( 'dS F Y' ); ?>
Wow. What a year Yorkshire has had, from rooftop bars to beachside pizza, the foodie scene is bigger than ever and continues to grow. After an incredible year of eats, we just couldn’t not share our favourite new openings of 2025.
Whether you fancy giving them a go in 2026 or already have, take a look at some of our favourites from this year. If this is what 2025 has brought us, we’re super excited for what the new year has to offer.
Biggest openings of 2025
CrowdedHouse
Starting us off strong is CrowdedHouse. In one of the most impressive locations in Leeds, this rooftop bar opened during the summer in perfect time for some sunshine spritz and small plates.
Quickly becoming one of Leeds’ hotspots, this is a new opening we adored in 2025, perfect for any occasion, whether it be a bit of work and a coffee or some Friday night cocktails.
Where? Level 5 & 6, Trinity Centre, 70 Boar Ln, Leeds LS1 6HW
The Grantley Arms
New for this year, the Grantley Arms is a refined country pub with fantastic dining. Go for the friendly Yorkshire service we all know and love, and seasonal British pub classics with an elevated twist.
Enjoy views of the countryside as you cosy up by the fire.
Where? Grantley, Ripon, North Yorkshire, HG4 3PJ
The Subrosa Spa at The Grand, York
How better to close the year than with York’s only five-star hotel opening the Subrosa Spa? The all-new facilities include a Tirol hot sauna, Himalayan salt sauna, a Salt and Light Therapy room, herbal steam room, herbal lounge, and a state-of-the-art large hydrotherapy pool.
The Subrosa Spa at The Grand is up there with one of the most exciting things to happen in 2025, and we can’t wait to pay it a visit in the new year for some well-deserved relaxation.
Where? Station Rise, York YO1 6GD
Garden Room at The Devonshire Arms
The Devonshire Arms is a firm favourite here at the Yorkshire Food Guide, offering the best views of the Dales and an even better dining experience. They have you covered, whether it’s afternoon tea, a trip to their spa or even a charcuterie board.
This summer, their garden room opened, perfect for indoor-outdoor dining and bringing the very best of the surroundings around the table.
Where? Bolton Bridge, Skipton BD23 6AJ
Uyare
Leeds’ rooftop scene had a glow-up in 2025. Uyare opened up on the top floor of the stunning Victoria Gate, serving incredible Keralan flavours straight to the skyline.
Doubling as an incredible event space, this spot managed to nail both lunchtime gatherings and an incredible late-night spot. If you fancy giving it a go in the new year, do not miss out on the Paratha, covered in Ghee its the perfect addition to any dish.
Where? Victoria Gate 3rd Floor, Rooftop, George St, Leeds LS2 7AU
Federal
The ultimate Aussie-inspired brunch spot has been brought to Yorkshire at the end of 2025, with talk of their opening murmuring for months, we are so excited to finally welcome Federal to Leeds.
Their menu truly elevates brunch with the likes of eggs Benedict and corn fritters. Their coffee is also well worth a mention, sourcing ingredients sustainably and ethically wherever possible.
Where? 34 Boar Ln, Leeds LS1 5DA
Blank street
In 2025, we simply couldn’t escape the hype of Blank Street, and while we had fomo here in the North, this was soon put to rest with the biggest Blank Street in the UK that opened its doors in Leeds in December.
We can confirm it was definitely worth the fuss. The creamiest matcha and beautiful baked goods are a very welcome addition to the city centre.
Where? 48 Albion St, Leeds LS1 6AB
The Banksia
This Agean-inspired all-day dining spot graced us with its opening this Autumn. With mediteranean inspired small plates served straight from their open kitchen and bar serving all kinds of mouthwatering cocktails, this is the place to get the party started.
Join The Banksia on Lower Briggate for live music, brunch or a coffee and a catch-up. We’re so glad to have it on Leeds’ foodie scene.
Where? 2 Lower Briggate, Leeds LS1 4AE
Johnny’s Bar and Parlour
This year, Harrogate got a brand new fine dining restaurant, Johnny’s Bar and Parlour. Launched by chef-founder Jemima Harrison, they’re offering a unique speak-easy style of dining.
Found on Montpellier Parade, it’s a vibrant yet cosy venue with an inspiring menu perfect for any appetite.
Where? 30-31 Montpellier Parade, Harrogate HG1 2TG
Pignut & The Hare
What was previously just Pignut became Pignut & The Hare this year, moving from Helmsley 5 miles over the moors to The Hare at Scawton in July 2025.
Tom and Larissa Heywood have poured their heart and soul into creating an unforgettable dining experience for guests. Now, you can enjoy their award-winning tasting menu alongside an overnight stay right in the heart of the North York Moors.

General Tarleton
This summer was a great time for Yorkshire’s foodie scene. In August, The General Tarleton was reopened in the village of Ferrensby, just outside the stunning market town of Knaresborough.
Led by Michelin-accoladed chef Tommy Banks, we knew this was going to be one to watch on the foodie scene, and it certainly delivered. Expect a menu of beautifully refined pub classics, the perfect winter warmers this time of year.
Where? Harrogate Rd, Ferrensby, Knaresborough HG5 0PZ
The Pizzeria at Saltmoore
Pizza and the seaside, you couldn’t name a better combination. The stunning Saltmoore, who in 2025 earned two Michelin Keys, opened the pizzeria this summer, offering the perfect laid-back dining experience.
Led by Head Chef Adam Maddock, the Pizzeria combines expert craftsmanship with warm, casual dining, the perfect fuel for a long summer’s afternoon spent at the beach.
