Stop what you’re doing! Our favourite Italian restaurant in Sheffield is opening a deli. This September, the brains behind Domo are welcoming Mercato on Green Lane in Little Kelham.
A Sardinian production kitchen, deli and shop specialising in pasta, breads, desserts, gelato and other Sardinian products all made in-house, it will be a one-stop shop for coffee, focaccia sandwiches, fresh pasta, gelato and Sardinian deli items.
After owners Sarah and Raffaele opened their newest addition in Leeds, the duo have created a dedicated space for the production of their signature, house-made Sardinian products.
Mercato is a part of their commitment to self-sufficiency, ultimately becoming the main producer of authentic Sardinian delicacies to supply both Domo restaurant locations in Sheffield and Leeds.
However, the vision for Mercato isn’t just about production, they’re using it as an opportunity to create a new destination that seamlessly combines food, retail, and connection.
Mercato will feature a cosy seating area both indoors and outdoors for us to enjoy a proper Italian coffee or savour a focaccia sandwich.
The décor will, of course, match their iconic rustic Sardinian style, with the creatives at 93ft and Made By Hands behind the design.
A striking pasta theatre window will be the focal point of the production area, with beautifully stocked deli shelves brimming with our Italian favourites.
Whether you’re picking up Sardinian desserts for a celebration or fresh pasta to pair with a nice bottle of Sardinian wine, we think this will be a very welcome addition to Sheffield’s thriving foodie scene.
