The event took place on Monday, 10th February in Glasgow, recognising the finest restaurants across the UK and Ireland. This award highlights the excellence of the dining experience of Forge at Middleton Lodge, and follows Head Chef Jake Jones receiving the Michelin Young Chef of the Year Award, and the estate the Michelin Green Star at last year’s ceremony.

From ‘Estate to Plate’
Forge at Middleton Lodge brings to the table a unique tasting experience, guided by their ‘estate-to-plate’ ethos. Head chef Jake works closely with the estate’s gardening team to create innovative menus that showcase seasonal produce grown on-site, ensuring a sustainable approach to fine dining.

Influenced by his chef father, from an early age Jake’s passion has seen him gaining experience from renowned farm-to-table.
Since launching Middleton Lodge in 2021, he’s studied the estate’s environment through the seasons, discovering inspiration and planning the intricate and detailed courses of the nine-course Forge tasting experience. Forge was born in just 2023 and has since bagged its self a hand full of accolades.

Jake said: “Being awarded a Michelin Star really is a dream come true. We have an amazing team at Forge and at Middleton Lodge and this award means so much to all of us. Our guests’ experience is our priority, and I love what I do.

“It is a privilege to build a community of guests who share our passion for food. The estate is a constant source of inspiration, and we are always looking to add to and perfect each course of our tasting experience.”
The Atmosphere of Forge at Middleton Lodge
The restaurant has a unique and inviting feel, with low lighting to evoke the senses and ensure all focus is on the story of the food. Original stone walls, period stonework and exposed warm wood beams add to the ambience.
Greenery adorns the artfully curated open bookcases, which cleverly create pockets of intimacy without breaking up the space, and a large open fire at the top of the restaurant is the finishing touch to the atmosphere they have so cleverly created here.
The Michelin Star recognises outstanding food quality and dining experiences, you can find the full list of all the Yorkshire award holders here.
Receiving this award is a significant achievement for Forge at Middleton Lodge, highlighting its reputation as a destination for innovative, seasonal and sustainable fine dining in the UK.
Estate Owner, James Allison adds: “This is a fantastic achievement for both Jake and the estate. I am incredibly proud of the team and cannot thank them enough for their hard work and dedication, which have made this award possible.
“When I began restoring Middleton Lodge over 20 years ago I wanted to create a sustainable country estate. My vision was to build a place where people could feel at home, gather and celebrate with great food and service. This award means so much to all of us.
When we first reviewed Forge a couple of years ago, we advised to book your table quick as it wouldn’t be long before Michelin comes calling and bookings become like gold dust.
We weren’t wrong.
