Harden’s officially released their list of the Top 100 UK Restaurants for 2024 and three of North Yorkshire’s finest restaurants were successfully featured amongst a host of other UK favourites.
Harden’s focuses on ‘user-generated content’, now in its 33rd year of sharing guides, latest news and feedback on restaurants across the UK.

Ranking no.28 in Harden’s Top 100 was the York-based Michelin Star restaurant, Roots. Curated by Tommy Banks. The restaurant blends cutting-edge cooking methods with unique ingredients to give guests an award-winning culinary-tasting menu experience.
Head Chef Will Lockwood showcases dishes inspired by their Yorkshire roots. Named one of the best restaurants in York, Harden’s describes Roots dishes as “a menu that is unexpected and exciting”.

The next Yorkshire restaurant featured in Harden’s Top 100 guide at no. 34 is Tommy Banks’ North Yorkshire Moors restaurant, The Black Swan at Oldstead. Awarded one Michelin Star and 4 AA Rosettes, The Black Swan is a family-run restaurant with a focus on foraging and preserving ingredients.
Expressed by Harden’s as: “Very difficult to find fault”, their purposefully designed tasting experience and seasonal menus build the connection between field and plate.

One of Yorkshire’s very best fine dining restaurants, Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall has been ranked no.75 in Harden’s Top 100 UK Guide. This Michelin Star restaurant uses a selection of hand-picked suppliers, as well as utilising locally grown ingredients from their very own kitchen garden.
Chef Patron Shaun Rankin said: “It’s truly an honour for Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall to be acknowledged in the Harden’s Top 100. This is the restaurant’s first feature in the list and is a source of great pride for both the team and I, particularly as the list is based on user-sourced ratings and reviews.
What a fantastic way to end 2023 and we hope to welcome even more new guests to experience Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall for themselves in 2024.”
