Rustique York restaurant’s plans to bring new concept to the city
//= get_the_date( 'dS F Y' ); ?>The masterminds behind French restaurant, Rustique York on Castlegate and Nola on Lendal have announced they’ll be branching out.
Currently operating within the beating heart of the city, D & F Rustique Limited have plans to expand further into the outskirts of York.
But what they have in mind may come as a surprise to those familiar to their existing venues.
Rustique blends rustic cooking with delicately crafted dishes, offering a diverse selection of meat and fish prepared using traditional methods and locally sourced ingredients.
They also offer extensive range of French and New World wines carefully chosen to enhance each meal, served in intimate but busy, vibrant and upbeat Bistro atmosphere.
Housed in the old congregational chapel on Lendal, Nola encompasses an entirely different vision. Styled in a 1920s Art Deco Theme, you’ll find period mirrors and marble throughout.
The restaurant is based on New Orleans Louisiana cuisine and drinks, and live jazz is performed three times a week.
What’s new for Rustique York?
From one family business to another, D & F Rustique Limited will be giving a new lease of life to popular community cafe, Heworth Coffee House.
They plans are to replace the shopfront and windows, and rebrand the corner property as Rustique café.
“The site is formerly occupied and operated as Heworth Coffee House, as an eat in or takeaway café. This use will not change.” the planning application states.
“The flat above the premises will continue to be used as a flat.”
A design statement goes on: “Rustique have been a long established family business operating in York city centre for many years,
“The opening of this café will enable them to expand their established business in the local area.
“The proposals to refurbish the existing building will benefit the local area and enable the business to thrive under new ownership.
“The unit will create new employment opportunities within the local area.”
As enthusiasts claim that D & F Rustique Limited are some of the best restaurants in York, we’re excited to see what the group do to Heworth Coffee House.
