Church – Temple of Fun

Welcome to your new place of worship. This bar set in the listed Osborn Works in the city’s Kelham Island/Neepsend neighbourhood brings a whole new meaning to the term quirky bars in Sheffield. Owned by rock band Bring Me The Horizon’s frontman, Oli Sykes, this bar is steeped in South American religious iconography.

Sip on your handcrafted seasonal cocktails whilst enjoying a game of pool, or immerse yourself in a PS4 video game while you sample one of their many iconic craft beers.

Amongst all of this, Church also has a separate 100% vegan bar and restaurant to satisfy all of its guests. Expect Victorian architecture, live music and free movie nights.

The Beaten Track

Bench

Bench is an award-winning Top 50 UK Cocktail Bar and neighbourhood hangout with communal bistro-style dining. Think seasonal dishes, top-notch cocktails, natural wine and beer.  

The popular Nether Edge bar comes from Sheffield locals Jack Wakelin and Tom ‘Ronnie’ Aronica, who previously worked together at cocktail bar Public before setting out on their own.

The Pearl at Park Hill

Opened by the duo behind the award-winning Sheffield bar and bistro Bench, The Pearl at Park Hill is their second site in the city and puts a spin on their version of a neighbourhood joint.

This small Northern chain is known for its indie rock n roll style and its Sheffield branch is no different. The brand has been around since 2010, with a strong passion for customer-focused service, fun-loving bartenders and of course delicious cocktails with a rock n roll twist.

Kuckoo Sheffield also specialises in DIY cocktail masterclasses, giving customers a chance to rock out behind the bar and make their own Kuckoo cocktails. In one of the best bars in Sheffield, expect moody lighting, colourful cocktails and plenty of rock n roll references.

Bungalows & Bears

Possibly one of the bars with the oddest name in Sheffield, Bungalows & Bears is not one to miss. This affordable bar has long been a staple, known for its good food, good drink and good music.

Based in an old fire station on Division Street, this bar has hosted a wide variety of musical guests from Swedish rappers to worldwide DJs and indie bands.

Treat yourself to a refreshing gin, craft ale or perhaps a cheeky cocktail or two. Also known for its street food style tapas and sourdough pizzas, it’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends over a glass of fizz, grab a pint before a match or listen to some great live music.

MOJO

Founded on a backstreet in Leeds in 1996, Mojo is THE place to be on a Saturday night. This bar in Sheffield is an iconic part of the city’s bar scene, known for its rock n roll feel and the promise of ‘Good Times Forever’.

Neepsend Social Club and Canteen

A classic Northern social club with a modern twist. Neepsend Social Club and Canteen opened in the summer of 2022, embracing the 1970s style of a traditional social club. Grab a pint before a quick game of darts or table football or before you tuck into a traditional Sunday dinner.

Their beer garden is also a winner for summer afternoons sinking beers in the sun. If you fancy one of their weekly social events, they even host Drag Bingos and plenty of Quiz nights.

The Furnace

The Furnace, situated right in the heart of the city centre just off Charter Row, is one of the leading bars in Sheffield. Known for its melting pot of industrial heritage, modern design and plenty of local ingredients, there’s something to suit everyone’s tastes.

This late-night hotspot has been involved in Sheffield’s party scene since 1992. Forum Kitchen & Bar is situated right next to Devonshire Green in the heart of the city centre.

Saw Grinders Union

This indie venue is based in Sheffield’s steel-making quarter Kelham Island. The building itself ‘Globe Works’ is known for its rich history as one of Sheffield’s oldest Grade II listed buildings.

SGU’s founders wanted to create a venue that embraced the city’s steel history but also focused on serving premium food and drink in an iconic atmosphere.

From factory-sourced light fittings to a feature live-plant wall, this is like no other bar in Sheffield. Expect stein-fulls of lager, classic cocktails and plenty of other refreshing drinks for you to indulge in.

Pina

Based in a former warehouse, Pina is not one to miss when it comes to the best bars in Sheffield. Owner and founder of Pina Joe wanted to bring his experiences of Mexico back to Sheffield, embracing the culture of cities such as Jalisco and Mexico City.

Pina is full of colour, with vibrant street art all along the walls combined with industrial character from the building itself.

All of the tequila and mezcal here are 100% agave-based and made with only the highest quality ingredients. Go for frozen margarita slushies and tasty tacos to pair!

Bamboo Door

Being one of Sheffield’s first tiki bars, Bamboo Door is a strong contender for being one of the best bars in Sheffield. Their range of tiki-inspired drinks and tipples has been going down a storm with the people of Sheffield since 2014.

Expect colourful décor, plenty of rum and cocktails packed full of flavour.

Their sharers in particular are a hit, with ‘Zombie Apocalypse’ packing a lot of punch! With cosy booths to open seating areas, why not give this tropical bar a go?
