As one of Yorkshire’s most exciting street food traders it hard to keep up with Street Cleaver. From appearances at some of our favourite foodie events, pop up restaurants, private event catering and work for the homeless, to a potential position at Spark:York. Wow, Street Cleaver is definitely one to watch.

The man behind the brand

Founded by Mark Hill, a self-confessed obsessive, compulsive pickler and true foodie, his mouth-watering Asian inspired street food is some of the best we’ve tried. Progressive street cuisine that changes with the seasons and the trends. Mark said “at Street Cleaver food is life, it’s all I’m good at and all I’ll ever be good at. I enjoy creating intense flavours with Nordic, Asian and Indian influences. I enjoy testing trends and putting my own Street Cleaver twist on it”. Examples of this include his vegan kimchi and unreal bao bun donuts with rose water syrup, absolute heaven!

Originally from Hull, Mark has 10 year’s experience as a chef at various restaurants from fine dining to indie small plates. This experience has also included Chef Consultancy, helping other establishments improve their menus, hygiene ratings, food on offer and staff training.

Street Food Catering Yorkshire

Street Cleaver provides street food wedding and event catering which again showcases his unique and fresh take on great food. Ingredients are fresh, seasonal and local, all made from scratch and bursting with flavour. Working with your theme Mark will create menus that are personalised to your needs. His previous wedding menus have ranged from canapes, fresh Indian curries with onion and fennel bhaiis and homemade samosas. Beef brisket bao buns and Asian tacos, to personalised wedding picnic boxes with delicious arancini balls, smoked cheese and potato croquettes, blow torched feta with sultana dressing and so much more. Food is served street food style from Street Cleaver’s van painted by a local tattoo artist or as informal help yourself dining.

Spark:York

Spark:York, currently in its planning phase with York City Council is a proposed development to regenerate the Castle Gate area of York city centre. This unique development made from shipping containers will be home to a community of local independent retailers, street food traders and social enterprises. Street Cleaver has applied to be part of Spark:York and has some very exciting ideas planned. Watch this space…
