The Westwood celebrates 20 years of dining in Beverley

Two decades, two AA Rosettes and more than 500,000 guests later, The Westwood is celebrating 20 years of exceptional food and hospitality in Beverley.

Founded by twin brother and sister Matt and Michele Barker, the Michelin Guide-recommended restaurant has become a much-loved name in East Yorkshire. But before opening its doors in 2007, the siblings had spent years working across the food and hospitality scenes of Sydney, New York and London.

Matt and Michele’s dream of opening a restaurant of their own began over shared meals whenever their careers brought them together in cities around the globe. They wanted to bring the food, service and atmosphere of leading international restaurants back to their hometown.

That dream became a reality when they transformed a former East Yorkshire courthouse into The Westwood. Since then, Matt’s creative cooking and Michele’s flair for hospitality and design have shaped the restaurant’s identity.

From Tom Dixon lighting to a moody private dining space complete with a statement wine wall, the interiors reflect the pair’s international careers while keeping things timeless and inviting.

Today, The Westwood’s menu brings the siblings’ story full circle, combining the best of Yorkshire produce with inspiration from New York’s brasseries.

North Yorkshire beef, East Coast fish and shellfish, and showstopping sides take centre stage, with plenty of options for everyone around the table. It’s a menu that celebrates the county while reflecting the flavours and experiences that have shaped Matt’s cooking over the years.

After 20 years of welcoming diners through its doors, The Westwood remains a firm favourite in Beverley. Here’s to the next chapter – book your table and celebrate here!
